Job Description

We have a new opportunity for an Apprentice to join our Import & Export team based at Bishopstoke.

The Apprentice will be working towards the responsibilities of an Import & Export Specialist as follows:

Providing excellence in customs management and compliance to our customers whilst ensuring that the provision of this service is fully compliant with HMRC requirements and other relevant bodies.

Specific duties include:

  • Responsible for the company's customs import and export clearance of goods with accuracy and efficiency, whilst ensuring that all documentation complies to an AEO standard.

  • Obtain shipment and Customs clearance documentation via liaison with internal and external parties, whilst ensuring that they are coded to attract the appropriate duty/tax and that the documentation has been filed correctly.

  • Provide customs clearance instruction to import & export agents and suppliers / customers on a daily, weekly & monthly basis, ensure the correct tarrif/CPC codes are used and ensure that customs clearance paperwork has been filled out correctly by external service providers, check entries and challenge any incorrect ones.
     
  • Maintain accurate records for audit and trade compliance purposes: maintenance of daily imports documentation and register.
     
  • Organise documents into appropriate folders electronically whilst maintaining compliance spreadsheets, auditing documentation and keeping logs of any errors/error corrections.
  • Responsible for the cost centre allocation of the Deferment account.
  • Responsible for correct invoicing on imports: transport costs to be separated from cost of goods.
     
  • Create Intercompany Purchase Orders through an internal portal.
     
  • Creating Virtual Deliveries for industrial Business.

Apprenticeship Training

Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer. 15 months training with a further 3 months training for the End Point Assessment.

There will be an option to continue the Apprenticeship with a Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship for a further 3 years if appropriate following successful completion of the Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer at the correct level.

Key skills for this Apprenticeship are:

Meticulous eye for detail and a right first time, tentative approach is a must due to the complex subject area and stringent regulatory requirements.

A quick learner able to interpret/operate in technical industries.

Excellent organisation and planning skills.

You will also have a comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft packages with excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

This role is based in our offices near the Eastleigh town centre. The address is Prysmian Cables & Systems Limited, Chickenhall Lane, Eastleigh, SO50 6YU. There are good transport links to Eastleigh and the site is approximately 15 minutes walk from the railway station. We are able to offer free car parking next to our offices.
