1. Summary of Responsibilities:
Provide wholesale coverage and develop the commercial relationship with a well-defined group of corporations focused on the following sectors: EV & Charging Stations, Traditional Clean Power, Transmission & Distribution, Clean Tech, Energy Efficiency and Environmental Solutions, offering the whole range of BBVA’s products and services. Drive the origination and successful closing of new business opportunities, mainly investment banking, global markets and ESG/Green product solutions, based on his/ her deep client segment expertise and strategic dialogue, in coordination with the Product and Risk partners.


2. List Major/Essential Job Duties:
Collaborate with the US Head of Sustainability and US Global Clients head in defining the strategy, business plan and budget for the unit. Focus on origination of new business opportunities in the US and Latam and drive cross-sell opportunities.
Manage a specific portfolio of clients in the US, being directly responsible for developing and maintaining a close relationship with clients at top management levels.
Originate new business opportunities jointly with the CIB product partners. Focus on understanding clients’ investment needs and strategic decisions, with a special focus on cross border deals (mainly Iberia and Latam) leveraging BBVA’s global footprint
Offer a comprehensive market and financial advisory service to the clients, delivering tailored made investment banking ideas and recommendations. Work closely with the M&A team to identify Cross Border M&A opportunities within the client portfolio
Participate in the negotiation of terms and conditions of deals. Collaborate with the CIB product units and Legal in checking and reviewing legal documentation and contracts
Oversee the deal execution, assisting the CIB product units in the communication with the clients and other BBVA internal units to solve problems or bottlenecks
Provide specialized advisory to the Risk unit about the clients specific operations and/ or corporate events. Build and maintain a fluent communication with the Risk units, in order to promote the knowledge and understanding of this clients’ segment.
Lead the credit approval process for clients and work with the Risk department to establish annual risk policy and limits according to the clients’ needs and the bank’s appetite.
Follow and comply with all the Compliance internal processes and requirements
Focus on profitability and revenue growth through investment banking operations and cross-selling with the clients’ portfolio under his/ her responsibility
Participate in the strategic and pipeline committees of the business unit.
Oversee the elaboration of the different presentations and documentation (clients’ due diligence, pitching, etc.).
Attend and participate proactively in ESG/Sustainability specific conferences and events to boost BBVA’s visibility in the market and expand our network with clients and peers.


3. Skills, knowledge, and abilities/Competencies:
Skills:
Experience in Client Coverage and relevant interaction with internal departments involved in the functions described above: risk, corporate and sustainable finance, lending, transactional banking, global markets, legal, etc.
Ability to develop strategic dialogue with clients
Knowledge of the ESG/Green linked products, as well as investment banking offering.
Solid ESG/Sustainable market knowledge, industry trends and existing client relationships
Ability to co-ordinate people from different teams involving all the above areas on a deal by deal basis.
Results/business orientation. Proactivity to get things done.


Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics; or engineering, law or similar grade
Minimum 10 years of experience in client coverage and experience with Sustainable companies
Preference: Fluency/working knowledge in Spanish

Legal requirements


With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from
$200,000.00 - 300,000.00. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary
offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and,
where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In
addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a
discretionary bonus.
