SCOPE OF THE JOB


The ‘Logistics Operations Manager – Customs Compliance and Vehicle Logistics will be responsible for overall logistics operations of importation and distribution in Canada. This role will work with a world class team of logistics professionals that will lead the operations and assist IT in the design and implementation of an ordering and distribution system. We are looking for an individual that will support the Planning & Logistics team in order to manage suppliers and internal customers to improve the supply chain efficiency and sustainability.


 


RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS



  • Support Head of Planning & Logistics for projects and process innovation.

  • Oversee 3PL events to manage all logistics operations, including customs compliance, inventory & storage, transportation, exception management, damage measurement and claims, data analytics, and trade compliance, for a North America automotive supply chain.

  • Manage customs compliance with the outsourced customs brokers to ensure that all documentation for customs declarations is properly planned and executed for parts and finished vehicles.

  • Maintain all customs files and records in compliance with customs requirements and local regulations for parts and finished vehicles; Ensure that all import transactions meet compliance standards set forth by Canadian Customs regulations and other governmental agencies.

  • Excel in creating and implementing a comprehensive process for Duty Drawbacks.

  • Manage on-time shipping instructions with site operations at each origin and destination.

  • Manage operational costs and collaborate with Finance/Accounting department for payment auditing process.


  • Maintain and develop SOP for any weakness in the current business process.

  • Support for documentation of project progress.

  • Develop contingency plans and implement the process.

  • Manage project logistics as directed (show or prototype cars, VIP shipments, etc.).

  • Analyze logistics cost and KPIs.

  • Support to develop strategies, suppliers, flows, and process innovation plans both in physical and electronical environment.

  • Evaluate claims and develop vehicle quality initiatives.

  • Work with Internal Customers to optimize and meet requirements (Sales, Delivery, Fleet, Marketing, Engineering, Finance/Accounting).

  • Participate in vendor management processes, such as selection, qualification, and performance evaluation.

  • Implement specific customer requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics.

  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes.

  • Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers.

  • Other related duties as assigned.


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR



  • Ideally this individual would need to understand Canada import/export regulations and CBSA policies.

  • 3+ years relevant experience with automotive logistics, customs clearance, port operations, transportation (air/ocean/truck/rail), and procedures.

  • 1+ years of related automotive industry experience and quality management.

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) – Preferred

  • Canada Customs Brokers Licensed - Preferred

  • Strong knowledge of multi-modal logistics pricing models (air, rail, truck, ocean, customs brokerage).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with success in working across organizations at all levels.

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time with ability to meet project timelines.

  • Strong computer proficiency in MS Office applications.



  • Experience with Logistic software applications.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; able to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement appropriate changes.

  • Self-motivated, reliable and follows through on commitments.

  • Solutions focused, strong work ethic, and desire to achieve excellence.
