 Job Description – Account Manager – Customs Brokerage



  • Job Type: Full-Time (On-site)   

  • Location:  Laredo, TX

  • Salary Range: $45,000- $55,000 Annual Salary range 


OBJECTIVE (POSITION SUMMARY)


The primary role of the Account Manager – Customs Brokerage position is to handle daily operations and communication with our customers, US Brokers, Mexican Brokers, and carrier partners in Mexico & the U.S. The Account Manager – Customs Brokerage will need to have general knowledge on how the cross-border world works between the U.S. and Mexico, its particularities, and challenges to successfully support customer-centric solutions.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE AS FOLLOWS: 


In this position, the Account Manager – Customs Brokerage is responsible for:



  • Arrange cross-border transportation shipments between the U.S. and Mexico border.

  • Assign, dispatch, monitor and update shipments, utilizing provided company tools.

  • Plan and coordinate the daily schedule of loads.

  • Establish coverage on freight entering and departing Mexico.

  • Has daily contact with carriers to determine availability while negotiating transportation rates.

  • Maintains and grows relationships with carrier accounts.

  • Makes calls to current and potential customers to promote business growth and development.

  • Manage customs paperwork with both US and MX Brokers

  • Tracks shipment from pickup through delivery (provide up-to-date information to customers as needed).

  • Compliance with customs laws and regulations.

  • Other duties and assignments as required.  


QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS



  • Understands cross-border market trends and Mexico regulations.

  • 2 years of experience in cross-border freight operations between US and Mexico.

  • Experience preferred in dealing with carriers and customs processes in these border crossing markets:

  • Experience with Cargowise preferred.

  • Proficiency in Excel preferred.

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.


Education and Industry Knowledge 



  • Bachelor / associate degree in business.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Customs Brokerage is an asset.

  • Experience in the Transportation or Logistics industry is an asset. 

  • Bilingual: Must be fluent in Spanish & English (reading, writing and verbal)


Technical Skills



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

  • Proficiency in TM is an asset.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.

Work Schedule



  • Full time schedule of minimum 8 hours per day with flexibility to complete all required job duties and responsibilities.

  • Regular physical demands:  Walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; use fingers for keyboarding; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  

  • Specific vision abilities:  close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus.  


Mathematical Skills 



  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


Language Skills:



  • Ability to read and interpret documents, spreadsheets, emails, and instructions.  

  • Ability to write routine correspondence.

  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively to both internal and external contacts.

Salary Range: $45,000- $55,000 (Annual Salary Range)
