Work Location: Hybrid/Remote (preferably located in the Philadelphia office)

Reports to: President and CEO

Salary: $211,000-$241,000



Overview

The Chief Global Affairs Officer (CGAO) will lead the organization's global initiatives, overseeing international partnerships, strategic global growth, policy advocacy, and international business development. The CGAO will work closely with other senior executives to ensure the organization's global strategies align with its overall mission and goals.


Requirements


Key Responsibilities:

Global Strategy Development

  • Reports to the President and CEO.
  • Collaborates with and provides support for Institute Chief for current global affairs activities as well as strategies and tactics for future evolution. 
  • Identify opportunities for international growth and expansion.
  • Executes projects as assigned.   

International and Domestic Relations and Partnerships

  • Manages the Global Affairs portfolio to reflect two sectoral platforms reflecting a broad range of programs/activities/services to include domestic and global affairs as appropriate.

  • Government and stakeholders’ sector
  • Establish and maintain relationships with international and domestic partners, stakeholders, and government entities.
  • Represents the Institute and the corporation as requested and serves as a trusted advisor and spokesperson. 
  • Pursues scholarship and thought leadership development through publications, policy briefs, and speaking engagements to reflect Global Affairs’ new identity under the Institute on global health workforce development 

Policy Advocacy and Compliance

  • Monitor and analyze global policy trends and their potential impact on the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with international laws and regulations.

Business Development and Expansion

  • Reimagines, restructures, and expands the following work units. Assumes management responsibilities upon completion of this re-designed work.
  • The Alliance
  • Local representative relationships worldwide
  • Reimagines Global Affairs’ role on migration matters and beyond to reflect the new global identity of the corporation.

Risk Management

  • Assess and manage risks associated with international operations and partnerships.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Leads and manages staff in all sectors and work units reporting to Global Affairs, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
  • Collaborates with and serves as counterpoint to Institute’s Champion while focusing on external/global affairs. 
  • Collaborates with all Senior Directors and Institute staff and leverages Institute’s resources, human or otherwise, to achieve Institute’s goals and deliverables. 
  • Serves on the Executive Core Team to represent Global Affairs and participates in corporate decision-making through the lens of Global Affairs.  

Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage the global affairs budget.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives.

Qualifications


Education:  

A graduate degree in law, political science, public affairs administration, health policy, or other fields relevant to global affairs leadership and management.


Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in a professional environment with experience in the health sector. 
  • Proven record of success with managing teams and motivating staff to perform. 
  • A keen sense of accountability and strategic and tactical savvy.  

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of global markets, international regulations, and geopolitical trends.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Other:

  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
