About the Opportunity


JORI is expanding! We are currently looking for a full-time Customs Broker to join our team in Canada on a hybrid set-up. Reporting to the Canadian Customs Manager, you will be handling a portfolio of diverse accounts, with a focus on our international logistics and customs brokerage services.


 


Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Delivering exceptional customer service on pre-entry requirements, document review/prioritization, and customs entry creation

  • Ensuring customer profiles are updated and current for assigned accounts

  • Maintaining and developing positive relationships with assigned accounts 

  • Compiling and preparing commercial regulatory documents such as customs invoices, certificates of origin, and cargo-control documents for entry processing

  • Helping create customs forms and obtain customs release of shipments

  • Calculating duty and tariff payments owed on imports

  • Paying, or arranging for payment of, taxes and duties on the customer's behalf

  • Coordinating and confirming the release and delivery of all cargo


About You


To qualify, you will need at least 5 years of experience as a Customs Broker, a proven track record in logistics or importing and exporting services, as well as a strong customer service and/or account management background.


Due to the nature of the role, we also require a valid Driver's License. In addition, candidates with strong Customs background, skills, and experience in the following are also essential:


 



  • Harmonized System Tariff Classification

  • Freight, Canadian Customs, and U.S. Customs processes and procedures

  • Trade agreements

  • Import and export of goods in various industries

  • Customer service or account management

  • Designation or working toward the completion of a CCS (Certified Customs Specialist), CTCS (Certified Trade Compliance Specialist), or any professional customs designation

  • Cargowise or equivalent business intelligence software platforms (asset)

  • A positive attitude and solutions-focused customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office, and CRM best practices


Most importantly, you have the willingness to learn and thrive in an environment where independence and responsibility are given without constant supervision. You are an enthusiastic problem-solver with outstanding skills in problem-solving, attention to detail, and customer service. Also, willing to relocate if you are not from Calgary.
