JOB SUMMARY:
The Customs Compliance Specialist will assume responsibility for the organization and continuous improvement of Krones, Inc. import/export trade compliance strategy, programs, and related projects to ensure compliance with the import/export controls, laws, and regulations in all countries where Krones does business.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and drive import/export control compliance
Handle import/export procedures to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations including HTS, denied party screening, ECCN coding, NAFTA, valuation, country of origin, licensing, SAP data base, commercial invoices, recordkeeping, and special trade programs
Perform internal and external trade compliance audits and report to the business
Classify parts for import and export per the government guidance
Maintain and update Krones Customs Compliance Export Policy and Procedure Manual
Create and conduct employee training programs, including daily reference material
Interact substantially with Krones Group, parent company, and subsidiary companies to determine import/export requirements and partnering to develop ongoing compliant business/sales/operational strategies worldwide
Communications, forms, documentation, and interaction with US Customs, government agencies, brokers and/or freight forwarders
Create and provide reports as required for daily job functions or as upper management requires
Regularly moderate resources and stay abreast of ongoing changes and updates to US Government regulation, as they apply to Krones exports
Perform any other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High school education or equivalent required
Experience and/or Training:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience including policy, procedure, work instructions, HTS classifying, COO, NAFTA, denied party screening, ECCN, and licensing
- Experience directing policy compliance, tracking regulatory changes, as well as training and effectively communicating across all levels of the organization, including senior executives and functional groups
- Minimum 3 years of experience classifying parts, per the CBP harmonized tariff schedule, to be imported into the USA is required
- Experience creating export shipping documentation for Canada and Mexico is required, and experience creating shipping documentation for countries outside of North America is preferred
