Director - Global Trade Compliance 


Location: Hybrid (2-3 days a week in office) based out of Metro-Milwaukee, WI.


The Director – Global Trade Compliance is responsible for
implementing and leading the company’s global trade compliance program and
ensuring the company and its subsidiaries comply with all applicable trade
compliance rules and regulations.   The Director will lead and manage a lean trade
compliance team with associates located in the U.S., China and India.  The position reports to the company’s Chief
Legal Officer and General Counsel.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages a lean trade compliance team, which includes associates based in the U.S., China and India.
  • Manages import, export, and
    international trade activities globally.
  • Sets a global strategy to
    minimize duties with programs such as trade preference programs, in-bond
    movements, and recovery of paid duties such as drawback.
  • Manages all responses to
    inquiries and challenges from the various customs authorities.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable trade compliance laws and regulations in various countries where our organization operates.
  • Stays current with trade compliance laws and regulations and provides insights to the organization regarding potential changes or impacts.
  • Oversees the preparation and maintenance of trade-related documentation, including customs records, licenses, permits, and certificates.
  • Conducts risk assessments to identify potential trade compliance issues and implements appropriate corrective actions and preventive measures.
  • Assists in internal and external trade compliance audits and provides documentation and information as needed.
  • Analyzes trade-related data to identify trends, discrepancies, or potential areas for process improvement, cost reduction, or risk mitigation.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams, customs brokers, and government agencies to address trade compliance concerns and resolve issues.
  • Provides training and guidance to internal stakeholders to enhance understanding of trade compliance regulations and procedures.
  • Implements improvements to the global trade
    compliance program as necessary.


Skills/Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as international trade, supply chain, business, or law.
  • 10+ years of experience in trade compliance or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of export regulations, customs procedures, and trade agreements.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Global Trade Management tools and systems.
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred.

The salary range for this position is $138350 - $177900. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.  Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
