The Procurement Specialist will be responsible to ensure the supply, cost, quality and service of divisional materials. They will also be responsible for Sustainability, Animal Welfare activities, working closely with Corporate GPO Sustainability team, Divisional partners and suppliers to track and report progress against sustainability roadmaps in support of our Corporate sustainability goals. 


 


Responsibilities:     


 




  • ​Secure the assigned strategic supplier base, to guarantee consistent and reliable supply of quality ingredients at competitive cost




  • Track, monitor and drive key supplier performance indicators across quality, service, costs and puts corrective actions in place when required




  • Effectively negotiate commercial terms and conditions




  • Building sourcing category expertise to provide market and financial insights




  • Driving effective internal relationships to ensure delivery of business plans




  • Act as liaison between Hill’s and GPO Sustainability team related to initiatives such as Sustainability, Social Responsibility and Human Rights




  • Support the Hill’s Procurement Teams to track and report progress for the sustainability and animal welfare initiatives and goals 




  • Engage with suppliers to confirm action plans, projects and drive discussions and report  progress against goals and rise challenges and obstacles to meet our goals.




 


Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree  in Sustainability Management, focus on Carbon Management, Sustainability and Environmental Management degree, Business Management with focus on Environmental Studies in a technical or business field, or related fields




  • 3+ years of Procurement or Supply Chain experience




  • Understanding of Supply Chain




  • Data Gathering and Analysis, Digital Systems Awareness




 


Preferred Qualifications:




  • An understanding of  related Ag Commodities / Pet Food industry would be an asset




  • An advanced degree (MBA) or professional certification (CPM or CPSM) is desirable




  • Knowledge of GHG (Green House Gas) Protocols 




  • Understanding of Life Cycle Assessment and understanding Climate Accounting

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $81,200 - $114,000 USD



Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.



Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
