Dura-Line is currently hiring for a highly collaborative and analytical thinker to join our Operations SIOP team as the NEW Export/Import Specialist working remotely in the USA or Canada. You will be responsible for the coordination and consolidation of international shipments, certifying a cost-effective transportation method is being used by analyzing company and customer needs, researching and auditing carrier costs and performance, and use data to drive business decisions and implement sustainable & cost-effective solutions.
We need a subject matter expert to interpret laws, rules, and regulations regarding shipping and prepare the proper applications for export/ import control certifications and licenses. You will review, develop, and maintain transportation management systems to ensure materials are delivered on-time and work to improve key performance metrics, business process efficiencies, and financial performance while reducing time spent in port, warehousing, transloading, and the overall costs of distribution.
You must have hands-on experience in logistics to arrange various modes of transport based on destination country and customer specific requirements and work with domestic and international freight forwarders to ensure inbound and outbound freight is routed in most cost-effective manner. There will be administrative duties and coordination of all activities related to transportation issues, including invoicing and freight claims, preparation of all necessary export documentation (SLI, CI, COO) in cooperation with customs brokers, and evaluation of various freight forwarders or transport providers (air/sea/road freight).
You must be knowledgeable with import customs clearance documentation, managing return and refusal of goods, creating reports, and help resolve logistics complaints & transport damages/disputes in a timely manner. In additional, technical expertise in lean practices, continuous process improvement, analytical & quantitative methods, materials management, and production scheduling will help you forecast and analyze data/trends better to improve performance of current logistic process and enhance shipment/transportation management systems.

What else is needed for this role?
Outstanding communication & interpersonal skills are key in this role as you will work with cross-functional groups and implement freight strategies and initiatives across multiple locations. A positive attitude, strong people & process skills, and determination will help you succeed in this role as you will drive results through managing the company international freight process and projects like clean SAP data tied to HTS numbers, UoM name/count, weight, incoterms and/or evaluation international shipping costs and GL accounts (from origin to destination).
To hit the ground running you will need degree in Business, Statistics, Supply Chain, Economics, or similar technical field of study, and/or equivalent practical experience in international logistics/shipping, freight cost management, incoterms, HTS classification, export/import compliance and process management in a lean manufacturing or industrial environment. Strong proficiency in Microsoft office application is required and experience using ERP systems (like SAP) and PowerBI experience a huge plus to assemble data, analyzing carrier performance, identify opportunities, target cost reductions and freight savings which support SCM operations.
