The Export Compliance Leader will oversee the compliance function in the areas of export controls; economic sanctions; Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA); customs, supply chain, and shipping; and other areas of global trade compliance.
This individual will report directly to the Director of Global Procurement and be a member of the Hanwha Aerospace USA (HAU) compliance team. This role will have the opportunity to work on issues that impact virtually every part of the business and will require routine interface with executives, engineers, local and international personnel, as well as external counsel and vendors. Lastly, this role requires leadership in the development, execution, and continuous improvement of compliance programs which would bring significant subject matter expertise to HAU.

Responsibilities:

- Supervises the preparation of and preparing export licensing documents.
- Analyzes hardware, software, and services for export classification.
- Reviews export control requirements for manufacturing lab visitation.
- Drafts, reviews, and implements internal policies, processes and procedures.
- Prepares and conducts effective compliance trainings for employees.
- Supervises coordination with engineering, launch, and manufacturing teams to manage shipments.
- Coordinates with teams across the company to understand the compliance impact of proposed new products, services, and acquisitions.
- Drafts and prepares filings for government agencies, including license applications, regulatory notifications, and scheduled reporting.
- Supervises the review, clearance, and escalation of automated flags for global trade compliance screening.
- Performs Record-keeping retention and organization.
- Ensures compliance with FCPA requirements.
- Coordinates with hiring managers and HR team to ensure proper export compliance for new hires.
- Supports 3PL administrative tasks and export license compliance throughout the supply base.
- 5-10% Domestic and International Travel required.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
- B.S. or B.A. required (Aerospace and/or Aero Engine experience is a plus).
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills (oral and written).
- Demonstrates strong problem- solving skills and the ability to deal with people of all levels.
- Possesses at least eight years of previous compliance experience, particularly in export controls (EAR and ITAR) and/or FCPA.
- Possesses at least three years of supervisory / leadership experience.
- Experience reading and interpreting regulations is required.
- High level of concentration, accuracy and attention to detail is required.
- Participate / Lead training as required.
- Utilize team approach & employee involvement effectively.
- Performs other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required.
- Must be able to lift, push, or pull at least 20 lbs.
