Goldman Sachs has been engaged in the commodities business since 1981 and is one of the leading players in the commodities markets across a wide variety of financial and physical products. It operates a fully integrated global commodities business that is able to offer services to clients spanning derivatives risk management and advisory, physical trading and logistics and structured finance products.


THE TEAM 


The Systematic Market Making Commodities Trading team is responsible for making electronic markets across a variety of commodities including oil, gas, power and metals. The team has a wide remit including, optimizing hedging and portfolio risk decisions, automating quoting, and developing algorithms and systematic strategies to trade derivatives. The team deploys statistical techniques and mathematical models to enhance the decision making process across pricing, risk modelling and execution, with the overall aim of improving business performance while working closely with sales and the other trading desks.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Manage the day-to-day running of the trading book and associated portfolio risks from franchise flows across the core liquid commodities 

  • Perform systematic and quantitative research on external & internal data to improve pricing, risk modelling and execution decisions

  • Implement systematic hedging and inventory management strategies/frameworks to manage risks centrally across asset classes.


Qualifications:



  • Excellent academic record in a relevant quantitative field such as physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering or computer science

  • Strong programming skills in an object oriented or functional paradigm such as C++, Java or Python

  • 3-4 years of experience in a trading or an automated trading function or at a cutting edge technology company

  • Self-starter with strong self-management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a high-pressure environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is [$150,000-$300,000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
