It operates a fully integrated global commodities business that is able to offer services to clients spanning derivatives risk management and advisory, physical trading and logistics and structured finance products.
THE ROLE
The US Power Trading desk is looking for an experienced trader to trade short term physical power in the West region (Pacific Northwest, Desert Southwest, Rockies, and Alberta markets).
The Commodities US Power trading desk market makes in a variety of US power markets and works with a range of corporate clients primarily located across North America. On a day-to-day basis, team members will be expected to price and execute derivatives transactions, stay connected with market events across commodity markets, and work with the wider team to support and build the overall business.
Responsibilities / Qualifications:
- Trade short term physical power in the Pacific Northwest, Desert Southwest, Rockies, and Alberta markets
- Manage cash and short term risk across all WECC markets with a focus in the Pacific Northwest region
- Executing and booking of flow-based and structured trades across west markets; identifying opportunities for automating execution
- Understanding commodities market fundamentals and trends and communicating information succinctly to salespeople and clients
Other Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years experience trading WECC cash and term power and transmission markets
- Must have physical power trading experience in the Pacific Northwest region
- Experience trading Desert Southwest, Rockies, and Alberta markets preferred but not required
- Proficiency in Python and VBA preferred but not required
- Experience trading CAISO CRRs and convergence bidding preferred but not required

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $150000-$225000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
