The Procurement Global Category Lead – Marketing is an individual contributor role and will report to the Director, Indirect Commercial Procurement. They will take the leadership to execute Category Management & Strategies, predominantly 80% for the North America region.
The primary responsibility will be to drive competition, innovation, supplier performance, and continuous improvement in alignment with corporate and business unit strategy and financial goals.
The person will be responsible for stakeholder engagement up to the Executive Leadership Team business unit leads for categories including, but not limited to: Media, Creative, Digital, and Public Relation Agencies, Marketing Consulting, and Market Access & Patient Support categories.
The person will collaborate with the Sourcing Support Services Manager and local category managers to execute strategies and deliver category best practices.
HOW YOU’LL SPEND YOUR DAY
Global Category ownership and execution for marketing category; including data gathering, value generation, and supplier relationship management.
- Partner with EVP US Pharma to develop, implement, and continuously improve upon Marketing and Market Access categories in order to drive competitive advantages and significant business contributions
- Stakeholder engagement with Business Unit SVP/VP and Brand Managers to define and influence overall business objectives
- Monitor market trends and supplier landscape, staying informed about innovation, and trends in the Marketing/Agencies category
- Analyze and produce reports on supplier spend data, sourcing initiatives and targeted/achieved savings.
- Identify potential opportunities and conduct Request for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Information quotation analysis and cost modeling.
- Execute sourcing strategy and selection of suppliers
- Manage contract expirations, renewals, updates, and performance.
- Conduct comprehensive supplier evaluations, contract negotiations, and proactively manage supplier relationships (including, but not limited to SRMs, 360’ surveys, etc.)
- Manage and maintain relationship with suppliers to maximize value and continuous improvement.
- Support supplier risk and sustainability assessments and develop mitigation plan as needed.
- Support US diversity and sustainability initiatives.
- Influence category best practices at regional/local levels with support of local procurement
- Support contract negotiations and management including successful execution of contracts, ensuring proper coordination with the internal legal team and managing on-going stakeholder contracting needs.
- Ensure all procurement activities align with company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.
- Liaise with Legal, Regulatory, Finance, IT and other functions as needed.

EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 10 years in a strategic sourcing environment with 5+ years managing Marketing or Market Access categories. Consideration will be made for marketing professionals with multiple years of strategic sourcing experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Procurement, Marketing, Finance, or Business.
- Experience in Pharma or CPG marketing environments preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in developing procurement strategies which contribute to overall business objectives is a must.
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing process including but not limited to: data analysis, market analysis, category strategy development, supplier sourcing, RFI/RFP/RFQ development, evaluation, negotiations, execution, contract review, contract management, supplier management.
- Applied experience in the understanding of legal issues, contractual principles, and negotiation techniques used in the development of complex contractual agreements.
- Proven capability in proactive workload management, data analysis, exceptional interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal skills, problem solving skills, and significant experience with Excel and Powerpoint applications.
