Trade Compliance Director & Counsel TCRS#4399
HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW
The Trade Compliance Director & Counsel will lead the trade compliance program, mitigate regulatory risk, and drive strategic trade initiatives for a multinational company, while ensuring adherence to international trade laws and regulations.
This is a hybrid position for candidates in the Minneapolis area.
The position is remote for candidates in Washington D.C area.
EXPECTATIONS
Lead the Global Trade Compliance team by fostering a collaborative environment
Provide legal counsel to support the Trade Compliance strategy
Evaluate and monitor the Trade Compliance program
Develop Trade Compliance policies and procedures
Establish cross functional partnerships to drive Trade Compliance adherence
Perform risk assessments on export control program
Stay informed on changes in global import and export regulations
Act as SME for M&A due diligence
ESSENTIALS
Law degree from an accredited law school, active member of at least one bar
10+ years’ experience working in Trade Compliance
In depth knowledge of export regulations and best practices (BIS, EAR, ITAR, OFAC)
Strong understanding of U.S. Customs rules and regulations
Experience working with a multinational manufacturing company across all regions
Understanding of Mexico Maquiladora operations
Ability to translate complex laws into operational practices
Excellent people leader with highly effective communication skills
