Role Summary:

Global Trade Jobs is assisting our client, a well-established logistics company, in their search for an Import Operations Specialist. This fully remote role is focused on daily import operations, supporting both the logistics team and customer service functions. As an Import Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for coordinating delivery orders, dispatching shipments, and ensuring successful and timely final delivery of imported goods.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Document Verification: Cross-check bill of lading numbers, container numbers, and piece counts on delivery orders against arrival notices or bills of lading.
  • Shipment Tracking: Monitor the status of inbound shipments to confirm arrival, release, and availability for pick-up from terminals or railyards.
  • Container Movement: Coordinate the inland movement of containers to their final destinations and update the estimated time of arrival (ETA) in the system.
  • Communication: Issue delivery orders to truckers and confirm receipt in writing; follow up on pickup and delivery status.
  • System Updates: Maintain accurate records of ETA changes, delivery order issuance, and proof of delivery in the operations system.
  • Terminal Coordination: Handle terminal-specific tasks, including paying Pier Pass fees (Los Angeles / Long Beach terminals) and claiming containers for port checks as needed.
  • Client Communication: Notify customer service representatives of any delays or issues with deliveries, enabling them to proactively update clients.
  • Customs Compliance: Facilitate customs examinations, including payment processing, and obtain client authorization for any required demurrage guarantees.
  • Reporting: Monitor daily reports for delivery orders not sent and identify any missing deliveries to address promptly.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in import logistics, freight forwarding, or a similar role.
  • Proficient in managing bill of lading documentation and understanding import operations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, and related software tools.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration and client satisfaction.
