ICF is looking for an International Trade Research Assistant (Consultant) to support ICF’s work with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Office of Child Labor, Forced Labor and Human Trafficking (OCFT). The research assistant will conduct qualitative research and provide technical input for the ICF research team to identify, review, and analyze U.S. and international trade data to meet research project objectives. The international trade research assistant will need to leverage analysis of trade data with open-source research and original qualitative research to map the international trade of goods deemed to be at risk of being produced with forced or child labor.
This short-term consultancy requires immediate availability for approximately 12 months, with hours ranging from 10 to 40 each week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compile and analyze trade data through publicly available sources and summarize limitations of findings.
- Produce short research memos on qualitative and quantitative research findings.
- Ensure high professional quality of assigned deliverables,
- Provide ad hoc assistance in qualitative research, developing tables and graphs, and final editing as needed.
- Produce compelling data visualizations independently and through collaborations with dedicated publications staff
Required Qualifications:
- Undergrad degree in public policy, international development, international trade, international business, political science, or economics
- 1+ years of experience working on international trade and/or international economic issues
- 1 + years of experience working with trade and tariff databases
- 1+ years of experience using advanced quantitative analysis skills
- 1+ years of experience applying knowledge of the key fundamentals of international trade
- 1+ years of work experience related to international labor, child labor, and forced labor in global supply chains
- Experience writing reports related to international trade issues for the U.S. Government agencies.
- Advanced fluency in written and verbal English
Preferred Qualification:
- Foreign language skills in Spanish, French, Portuguese, or Chinese

- Ability to follow detailed instructions and produce accurate results, often on a quick turnaround basis
- Ability to conduct work in a professional and courteous manner
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively as part of a team and to be self-motivated

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$57,737.00 - $98,153.00
