Job Title: Logistics Coordinator 

Department: Shipping and Receiving 

Reports To: Manufacturing Manager 

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt 

Summary: 

As the Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing the organization's supply chain, ensuring goods and services are delivered to customers in a timely and cost-effective manner. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all logistical needs are met efficiently and effectively. As the Logistics Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to coordinate multiple projects and activities and develop innovative solutions to any logistical issues that arise. Job Responsibilities 

  • Manage daily logistics operations, ensuring all customer orders are fulfilled in a timely and efficient manner. 
  • Monitor freight shipments and track progress of orders. 
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to logistics. 
  • Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments. 
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to improve efficiency and cost savings. 
  • Coordinate with suppliers, transportation companies, and other vendors to facilitate timely deliveries. 
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies regarding shipments. 
  • Negotiate contracts and rates with carriers. 
  • Monitor and approve all freight invoices for payment.
  • Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics. 
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, technology, and regulations related to logistics. 
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, security, and environmental regulations.
  • Handle all legal requirements (licensing/permits, etc.) for our fleet for each state our drivers travel.
  • Monitor/handle all requirements of our drivers including but not limited to random drug test pool compliance, DOT medical cards, proper licensing, etc.
  • Monitor/track all fleet maintenance (in coordination with drivers) for safety and operational purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret both standard and legal documents such as: FMSCA, manuals, Unified Carrier Agreements, safety rules, etc. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must have excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  Ability to work effectively under pressure. 

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with logistics & transportation software is a must. Ability to utilize freight carrier portals to setup shipments. 

Education/Experience:

Minimum requirements; high school diploma and 3+ years of experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field. Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of supply chain processes.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses and hard sole/close toed shoes with a low heel when walking through the manufacturing shop and/or repair shop whether as part of performing their job or just passing through. In addition, long hair must be tied back when around hazards of flame, machinery, or equipment.
