Manager of Global Logistics and Compliance – Houston, Texas


 


 


Position Summary


 


Primary duty is to manage the processing of ocean/air import transactions, including all related activities, for all businesses related to Tailored Brands. Manage all duties related to document preparation and traffic coordination required to process import and domestic shipments. Perform all duties correctly, cost-efficiently, within Company standards, and under the supervision of Director of Global Logistics


 


 


International Logistics & Compliance - Duties and Responsibilities



  • Coordinate booking approvals for every PO shipping both fabric (foreign to foreign) and destined to Tailored Brand’s DCs, ensuring all criteria for merchant and production preferred timing and quantities are being met and executed.

  • Manage origin relations between vendor, freight forwarder and carriers to eliminate and avoid any delays in processing products for shipping

  • Proactively manage team distribution of workload and final execution for international and domestic inbound import as well as foreign documents

    • Obtain, review and approve all international and domestic shipping documentation

    • Forward international and domestic shipping documents to our Accounts Payable team to ensure prompt processing and subsequent payments in conjunction with agreed upon payment terms

    • Supply our US Customs broker with necessary documents to complete US Customs clearance in a timely manner

    • Work to resolve any/all outstanding compliance or systematic issues across multiple functions to ensure regulatory requirements are met

    • File all required documentation and further backup

    • Submit freight forwarder invoices to our Accounts Payable team to provide payment in accordance with our agreed upon terms



  • Ensure monitoring of all international and domestic inbound containers

    • Track and trace all inbound containers

    • Update estimated arrival dates into relevant systems/reports as needed



  • Coordinate closely with Design & Global Sourcing, Transportation, and DC receiving teams for planning/execution, CTPAT compliance, proper product receipts and validating all necessary information is provided from external providers

  • Proactively manage Company’s Import Compliance program for both USA and Canada.

  • Identify potential delays that could be operationally problematic, notify appropriate parties, recommend follow-ups and execute resolutions as directed

  • Manage Logistics Staff of 5 personnel

  • Manage private Over-The-Road fleet planning for Inbound and Outbound routes and coordinate route planning with Distribution Center leadership.

  • Liaison between internal and external stake holders for resolution to inquiries or changes required.

  • Process all non-PO invoicing for product development team

  • Answer payment inquires on PO and non-PO merchandise for timely payments to our vendors and maintaining partnership

  • Participate in regular business reviews with vendors and agents

  • Provide reporting on business activities and KPIs as needed

  • Monitor and manage WIP reporting for garments and fabric with up to date information on an as needed basis


 


 


Fabric Inventory Management



  • Responsible for fabric movements from foreign points of origin. This role also maintains the financial accountability for all fabric liabilities

    • Document and reconcile fabric usage

    • Identify and reconcile fabric/wip inventory discrepancies

    • Identify and reconcile discrepancies on commercial invoices/packing lists

    • Provides Fabric freight cost per meter to factories upon request for commercial invoice reporting

    • Processing in PLM/Bamboo Rose all Fabric PO’s and SAPN’s for payment for all business units




Job Skills and Specifications



  • Very good verbal communication skills and past customer service experience are required

  • Very good written communication skills

  • The ability to plan, organize, prepare, and assemble documents or reports containing data from several sources.

  • The ability to use Company-standard software for word processing, spreadsheets, etc., to generate more elaborate reports, charts, and graphs as applicable.

  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management Software (Bamboo Rose)

Qualifications



  • 8-10 years of international ocean/air freight imports experience

  • Strong understanding of applicable Customs laws, regulations and other government requirements for both USA and Canada

  • Familiarity with HTS Codes for imports

  • Experience managing/coordinating C-TPAT Programs

  • Proven ability to establish or enhance ocean import/export operational functions

  • Demonstrated success managing / leading an import team in retail apparel/footwear

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or related field a plus
