Title: Material Procurement Specialist
Location: Canby, OR


 


Wilson Construction Company (Wilson) has an immediate opening for an experienced Material Procurement Specialist to work in our Canby corporate office. The Material Procurement Specialist supports the Materials Procurement Group within the Operations Department. Key roles include assisting with project related estimates, vendor communications, solicitating quotations, purchase order submissions, tracking purchases, and reconciling invoices. Working primarily in an office setting, this position will have a strong emphasis on data entry and record keeping while also requiring independent decision making.


 


Job Tasks and Responsibilities:


• Review customer specifications and project bid documents to determine material requirements.
• Compile and enter bill of material quantities into trackable estimate form.
• Maintain status information of all material quotations and orders.
• Initially with the Material Manager and over time alone, participate in project team meetings as the materials department representative to provide information on material pricing and delivery status.
• Compare delivery schedule to project schedule and provide overdue material status updates to supervisor and project teams.
• Reconcile and approve material invoices for payment.
• Create material packing slips and pick tickets and coordinate with warehouse staff.
• Maintain material inventory levels and records quantities and types of material received and distributed.
• Prepare itemized bill of materials based on predetermined part lists or client/partner drawings.
• Communicate with material vendors as to pricing, availability, approved alternate materials, lead times, and delivery schedules.
• Solicit quotations from approved vendors.
• Provide recommendation of award by comparing supplier proposals based on pricing, lead time, and value-added services.
• Work with warehouse staff to perform quality control checks on outgoing items and project material personnel for similar checks on received materials.
• Assist with freight shipments and prepare bill of ladings for outgoing deliveries.
• May assist with setup and auditing of various project related material yards.
• May drive to outlying work areas to check status of orders, witness testing, or pickup/deliver materials.


 


Requirements:
• HS Diploma.
• 2–4-year collegiate degree preferred.
• 1-3 years’ experience in an office setting.
• Strong proficiency in MS office (Excel, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
• Accurate data entry skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills.
• Tracking and follow up skills with emphasis on detail.
• Self-motivated with the ability to independently prioritize workload and tasks.
• Ability to work collaboratively and constructively with all levels and personality types of staff members.
