How You'll Contribute to the Team:
The Procurement Specialist will develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings, drive supplier performance, and optimize the supply chain, while ensuring activities comply with legal, regulatory, and company requirements. Working closely with stakeholders across the organization to understand their product and service needs, the Procurement Specialist will conduct market analysis, lead solicitations and supplier selection, negotiate cost-effective agreements, and manage supplier relationships. The ability to ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality materials and services that create value for our partnerships and the residents we serve, while minimizing risk, is at the forefront of this role.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Support the Director, Procurement to achieve business goals through the development and execution of project-specific procurement strategies that align with short and long-term objectives.
- Consult with internal departments such as Operations, Asset Management, Construction and Risk to understand and meet their procurement needs and develop efficient procurement solutions.
- Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings, drive supplier performance, and optimize the supply chain. Conduct market analysis, negotiate contracts, manage supplier relationships, and identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
- Manage the bidding/solicitation process. Evaluate bid and contract documents for accuracy, completeness and compliance with company policies and procedure and state and federal laws; conduct detailed analysis of bid and proposal results to ensure vendors meet company standards for quality, reliability, and cost. Make recommendations for award and work with business stakeholders to make a collective decision.
- Conduct regular vendor performance reviews and assessments. Monitor supplier's performance through KPIs and ensure adherence to agreed terms. Provide regular reporting on vendor status and concerns.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships to foster innovation and optimize supplier capabilities to address business requirements.
- Manage risks related to the supply chain, such as labor shortages, disruptions and quality issues. Identify and select teaming partners to help fill critical capability gaps.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement records and documentation.
- Educate stakeholders on procurement/contracting strategies, procedures and policies.
- Contribute to budget development and prepare and manage budgets and forecasts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Role Specific Requirements Include:
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in vendor management, procurement, or a related role.
- Proven ability to obtain and analyze product and price data for contract negotiations and conduct comparative analysis of vendor terms and/or price quotations to develop recommendations on vendor selection, terms, or prices.
- Demonstrable success in supplier/vendor negotiation and contract management.
- History of building strategic relationships aligned on goals and focused on creating value for clients.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills necessary to mitigate risk factors and resolve complex or unforeseen conditions amid tight timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with individuals of diverse backgrounds and at all organizational levels, including the ability to influence and negotiate.
- Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities and projects in a dynamic environment, while being attentive to details.
- Proven ability to implement ideas and settle differences in a manner that strengthens relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and build relationships at all levels inside and outside the organization.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Occasional travel may be required.
