APCO, a global advisory and advocacy firm, is hiring a project assistant to join our Global Business Development team. The position will be based in Washington, DC, or Raleigh, NC. By joining our Global Business Development team, you will be partnering with colleagues who are open, collaborative, diverse and curious. Clients come to us to help solve tricky problems, create new ideas and campaigns, and connect with others. The Global Business Development project assistant plays an integral part of our new business process – helping to keep creative development, content development and other work streams organized against firm deadlines and turn opportunities into new clients.


Responsibilities: 



  • Supports and facilitates new business development efforts for APCO 

  • Works with project teams on pitches and proposals for new business by conducting background research, media scans and compiling relevant company credentials and experience

  • Assists in proposal and pitch preparation, particularly with editing, formatting, and creating charts and graphics for documents or decks in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint

  • Facilitates requests for design support with the design team and opportunity owners within the company

  • Communicates with all regions to share best practices

  • Helps create and update materials to be used in new business efforts

  • Provides support for proactive initiatives for potential new business opportunities, such as: APCO seminars, events, dinners and meetings; prospect outreach; and relationship follow up

  • Facilitates information sharing between regions by maintaining presentation and pitch archives, and samples of work

  • Supports new business updates and analytics reports

  • Helps carry out other new business outreach activities as assigned 

  • Supports opportunities beyond business development to engage in client work


Qualifications: 



  • Prior public relations or advisory consultancy or in-house communications experience (including internships). Previous consulting experience is highly desirable

  • Prior internship or work experience in a communications or advisory consultancy, public affairs, political campaigns, social media, public relations or Capitol Hill preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business management, communication, journalism, public relations or related field

  • Exceptional writing, editing and analytical skills, and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight deadlines

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task project requests

  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as to work independently; positive, flexible attitude that will lend itself to client service

  • Digital/social media fluency

  • Experience using AI to improve efficiency and support outcomes

  • Some domestic and international travel may be required


Compensation Range:


The US base salary for this position ranges from $42,000/year to $48,000/year. Our compensation range for this role is inclusive of several US geographic markets. APCO targets an employee's pay within this range to be based on several factors, which include but are not limited to relevant education, skills, job-related knowledge, qualifications, work experience, credentials, internal equity and/or geographic location.
