GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Educare of Omaha, Inc. is a non-profit organization that has a collaborative partnership between Early Head Start/Head Start, Omaha Public Schools and the Buffett Early Childhood Fund. Comprised of the two Educare Omaha Schools (Kellom and Indian Hill) and three Early Learning Centers (Skinner, Gateway and Kennedy), the mission of Educare of Omaha, Inc. is to promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children ages 0 to 5 through the provision of evidence-based education, health, nutritional, social, family engagement and other services to enrolled children and their families.
The purchasing and procurement specialist is responsible for optimizing spending, ensuring quality and reliability, managing risks, aligning with strategic goals, and fostering innovation within the organization. It’s not just about buying goods and services; it’s a strategic function that supports the overall success of the organization. Minimizes costs by comparing suppliers, negotiating prices, and achieving favorable terms. Highly developed interpersonal, problem solving, supervisory, time management and decision-making skills are required to be successful. The position requires a high degree of attention to detail. Ongoing training cost efficiency and skill building is encouraged.
Schedule: This position is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. The position is primarily in office and the schedule is 8am-4:30pm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determine the organization's needs for goods and services
- Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and compare offers
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms
- Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
- Track inventory and restock goods when needed
- Ensure that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers
- Monitor and control procurement budgets
- Work with Fiscal Director to implement risk management for supply contracts and agreements
- Work with Fiscal Director to develop and implement purchasing strategies to ensure cost effective procurement of materials
- Forecast inventory needs and manage stock levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers
- Negotiate contracts and terms to secure the best deals
- Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable supply chains
- Oversee inventory management systems to track stock levels, orders, and deliveries
- Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts
- Work with Fiscal Services Director to implement inventory control procedures to minimize loss and optimize storage
- Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements
- Prepare and present reports on purchasing and inventory activities
- Communicate with management regarding inventory status and procurement plans.

- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word, and purchasing and resource systems required.
- Expertise in creating and interpreting spreadsheets required
- Ability to analyze and interpret data required
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
- Strong accounting knowledge of federally funded programs preferred
- Nonprofit and grant accounting preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or finance with 2 + years proven experience in purchasing, inventory management, procurement systems and supply chain management, or a related field required.
- Bachelors preferred.
