Senior Director of Global Logistics

Job Summary:

As the Senior Director of global Logistics, you will play a crucial role in creating, managing and optimizing a Best-in-Class end-to-end transportation for our global operations. You will be responsible for developing and executing efficient and cost-effective transportation strategies, ensuring the seamless movement of products within the global supply chains. This position requires a strong background in logistics management, supply chain optimization, and a deep understanding of project logistics.

You are someone with a proven track record in managing customer service, DTC operations, 3PL warehouses, and logistics. You understand how to optimize processes, improve the supply chain, and lead customer support teams to enhance satisfaction and loyalty. You've got a data-driven, customer-first mindset and are skilled at collaborating across teams to drive efficiency without compromising service standards. Your strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills help you build solid foundations that elevate both operations and service standards. You're motivated, result-oriented, and always focused on continuous improvement.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • This role will be responsible for managing approx. $40 million in freight spend and over 20,000 shipments per year with a staff of 4 direct reports and a team of 30+ indirect reports across the company.
  • Develop and implement strategic logistics plans to optimize transportation efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall logistics performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align logistics strategies with business objectives across the company.
  • Negotiate contracts with transportation providers (flatbed and dry van) to ensure the right balance of cost, service and timely delivery.
  • Mentor and lead a team of diverse logistics professionals by building a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Own freight, bill, audit & pay including the audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with domestic transportation regulations and industry standards.
  • Mitigate logistical risks by implementing robust contingency plans and continuous monitoring.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure logistics performance such as OTD, month over month savings and score cards.
  • Use data analytics to drive quick decision making, problem solving and continuous improvement delight the customers.
  • Direct domestic and international logistics teams for global coordination.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to bring innovation to the logistics function.
  • Identify process and systems improvements to scale up current processes without increased headcount.
  • Be a leader in driving the integration into Array’s automated supply chain tools.
  • Implement and maintain Routing Guides with suppliers to ensure compliance with customer documentation, shipping, packaging, and labeling requirements.
  • Oversee all 3PL warehouses for both retail and DTC operations to include order fulfillment, inventory control, and supply chain processes to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Develop contingency plans to handle supply chain disruptions, seasonal demand, and capacity planning, which is key to maintaining smooth operations.
  • Implement systems and processes that support seamless customer interactions, enabling quick issue resolution and consistent experiences across touchpoints.
  • Work closely with supply chain partners and internal teams to optimize inventory management, reduce delivery times, and improve order accuracy.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in domestic and international transportation logistics, preferably within project logistics.
  • Proven experience in transportation management within the renewable energy or related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic transportation regulations and best practices 
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts and manage relationships with logistics service providers.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to be able to present to C-Suite leaders and well as drivers.
  • Proficiency in relevant ERP systems, SAP preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business environments and implement innovative solutions to address logistics challenges.
  • Demonstrate the ability to align logistics strategies with the company's long-term business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage several initiatives simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical and project management skills.
  • Industry expertise in managing corporate logistics spend.
  • Must have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
