Key Job Responsibilities:
- Own the global Center of Excellence (COE) for trade compliance that focuses on classifications, anti-dumping, binding rulings, and various trade laws that impact the Company’s global product.
- Take full ownership of the CTPAT program.
- Lead and maintain a comprehensive understanding of trade laws, tariff classifications, and trade agreements relevant to the company’s operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to provide guidance on trade compliance matters related to the imports and export of materials.
- Lead the development and implementation of trade compliance strategies that optimize operational efficiency and minimize risk through automation.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies, corrective actions, and ensure compliance.
- Provide support during customs audits and investigations, ensuring timely and accurate responses to regulatory authorities.
- Support the international logistics coordinators by providing them with the correct licenses, permits, and declarations.
- Determined Harmonized Tariff Schedules, ECCN Classifications, and country of origin for new material, products, parts, and equipment.
- Monitor data in SAP and the broker’s list for completeness, correctness, and validity.
- Stay informed about changes in trade regulations and communicate updates to internal stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison with government agencies, customs brokers, and other external partners to facilitate smooth trade operations.
- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on trade compliance policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in international trade, business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in trade compliance within the manufacturing industry preferably in the renewable sector
- In-depth knowledge of global trade regulations, export controls, and customs procedures.
- 3+ years of experience working with ERP systems, SAP preferred
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with trade management software and systems.
- Ability to adapt to changing regulatory environments and implement proactive compliance measures.
Preferred qualifications:
- Be a licensed Customs House Broker (CHB) or have relevant certifications in trade compliance or supply chain management.
- Stay informed about changes in trade regulations through continuous learning and participation in industry conferences.
- Up to date on emerging technologies relevant to trade compliance, including automation and data analytics tools.
