POSITION OVERVIEW |
As a Senior Import Specialist - Customs Brokerage, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient clearance of imported goods through U.S. Customs and other government agencies. You will be responsible for managing compliance with all import regulations, handling complex customs entries, and providing exceptional service to clients. This position requires strong knowledge of customs laws, tariff classifications, and import documentation, as well as the ability to resolve issues proactively. |

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Prepare, review, and process customs entries in compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations.
- Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensure proper duty rates are applied.
- Coordinate with clients, carriers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to ensure timely release of shipments.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local import regulations, including CBP, FDA, USDA, and other regulatory bodies.
- Advise clients on import requirements, tariffs, and duty minimization strategies.
- Resolve any customs-related issues, such as holds, audits, and discrepancies.
- Stay updated on changes in trade regulations, customs laws, and industry best practices.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior customs brokerage specialists.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation for audits and compliance purposes.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED |
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, International Trade, Business, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in customs brokerage or import compliance.
- Customs Broker License (CBL) strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in customs brokerage software (e.g., CargoWise, Descartes, or similar), Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of CBP regulations, HTS classification, PGA (Partner Government Agency) requirements, and trade compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

- Safely and successfully performs the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged period of time in office environment, desk setting
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
