About the role

This role will oversee and direct customs/international trade compliance activities to ensure Ansell Canada Inc. follows all applicable Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and Health Canada laws and regulations.

Specific responsibilities:

1. Assign proper harmonized tariff schedule numbers for imported and exported merchandise ensuring the correct duty is paid.

2. Resolve day-to-day operational issues, along with Ansell’s logistics functions, such as import and export documentation discrepancies, classification, valuation, etc, to ensure successful and timely customs clearance of product.

3. Develop and publish customs compliance manuals, policies, and procedures.

4. Implement and manage Ansell-Canada’s involvement with the CBSA Assessment and Revenue Management (CARM).

5. Review free trade agreement certificates of origin for completeness and accuracy.

6. Provide subject matter expert advice and guidance regarding all aspects of customs/trade compliance.

7. Conduct compliance reviews, internal self-assessments, and Customs entry audits.

8. Manage the relationship with Ansell-Canada’s Customs Brokers to ensure a high level of performance and trade compliance.

9. Conduct and lead meetings fostering productive discussions and ensuring actionable outcomes from internal and external stakeholders.

What are we looking for?

Experience

· College degree or equivalent experience with Customs/Trade compliance.

· 5-7 years direct experience in a Customs/Trade Compliance role.

· Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Designation is considered and asset.

· Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) is considered an asset.

· Experience with duty drawback, customs duty recovery, and other cost saving programs

Skills

· Knowledge of Canadian Customs (CBSA), advance rulings, and CBSA D-memos

· Strong working knowledge of Customs regulations and requirements associated with imports and exports.

· Solid understanding of Customs Valuation, Tariff Treatments, SIMA, etc.

· Ability to communicate at all levels within Government agencies overseeing imports and exports.

· Advanced competence with Microsoft Suite.

· Exceptional organizational and time management skills.

· Strong analytical skills.

· Strong communication, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills.

· Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment, collaborating with colleagues to achieve common goals and support organizational success.

· Bilingual (French and English) verbal and written.

Additional Requirements

This role may require limited travel (domestic and international).
