The Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring that all import and export activities comply with regulatory requirements. This position involves daily operations activities focused on facilitating the clearance of shipments and maintaining accurate documentation. This position demands meticulous attention to detail to troubleshoot and investigate information, resolve issues, and implement process improvements. The Analyst will apply critical thinking skills, strong communication abilities, and organizational expertise to anticipate needs and fulfill the requirements of assigned tasks.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Responsibilities - other duties may be assigned
- Respond to carrier inquiries regarding U.S. import clearances, including classification, documentation, country of origin, and antidumping/countervailing duty (AD/CVD) validation.
- Audit and archive import documentation, filing Post Summary Corrections as required.
- Interpret technical product specifications, engineering drawings, datasheets, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to determine ECCN/HTSUS classifications and country of origin.
- Maintain and audit the classification database, ensuring accurate and timely information is available for brokers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
- Review planned export shipments to identify items requiring export licensing and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Analyze open purchase order reports to determine HTS classifications and country of origin for procured items.
- Validate and document Free Trade Agreement (FTA) qualifications.
- Support duty drawback claims by collecting required records needed for claim submissions.
- Conduct AES filing audits, document findings, and ensure corrective actions are implemented in a timely manner.
- Collect and compile required documentation for export license applications as needed.
- May perform screenings of export shipments, new customers, and suppliers against government-restricted party lists as needed.
- Provide support of EAR jurisdiction validation of foreign-produced items as required.
- Develop and deliver training sessions on Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings in AES and general trade compliance topics when required.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to obtain and validate compliance-related data.
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Continuously enhance knowledge of trade compliance through training and professional development.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - other duties may be assigned
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. import regulations (Title 19, Customs Duties) and experience with duty drawback submissions.
- Understanding of U.S. export regulations, including the EAR and FTR.
- Expertise in HTSUS and ECCN product classification.
- Strong ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks while working independently with minimal supervision.
- Possess skills to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff and management.
- Capability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Aptitude for quickly learning new systems and processes.
QualificationsQualifications
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident alien of the US located within the US.
- Bachelors degree required; focus in supply chain management or business preferred.
- Prior experience working in Supply Chain and/or Logistics in an Import/Export Compliance role required.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
Work Arrangement
- Open to hybrid work flexibility. Fully remote candidates will not be considered.
- May require occasional travel.
