Job purpose


This position has responsibility for overall Trade compliance of SSAB America’s business and adherence to trade regulations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The role is responsible for working with brokers and trade authorities to ensure SSAB is in compliance with trade laws and regulations, coordinating the collection of data intended to support legal counsel for trade case litigation, coordinating the collection of data required for CBAM reporting and other similar sustainability and environmental trade compliance initiatives. Additionally, this position is responsible for the management of all complimentary and non-complimentary product sales into North America from our European operations through coordination with North American and European contacts.


 


 


Duties and responsibilities:


Trade Compliance



  • Maintain documents and records for trade with U.S., Canada and Mexico

  • Administer and complete requests for information from U.S., Canada and Mexico trade authorities related to trade case reviews

  • Serve as liaison with customs brokers on projects

  • Support trade activities including trade action and remedy

  • Support commercial activities to ensure SSAB is compliant with customer needs through the review and completion of government related regulatory documents

  • Serve as point of contact for customs requests, questionnaires and audits for U.S., Canada and Mexico

  • Determine HTS application for exports and work with brokers for determination

  • Monitor import/export activity for finished steel and other steel related products for the U.S., Canada and Mexico

  • Stay abreast of trade actions and import/export regulatory changes for U.S., Canada and Mexico

  • Work cross functionally with Commercial, Finance, Government Relations, IT and Technical Engineering


European Products Coordination



  • Work with Commercial Sales team to develop market demand analysis for SSAB’s European products into North America

  • Coordinate, implement, and maintain sales strategy of SSAB’s European products

  • Coordinate sales and inventory forecast of SSAB’s European products

  • Coordinate pricing feedback analysis & cost benefits comparison to SSAB’s competitors

  • Target & coordinate opportunities to expand SSAB Europe’s product offering throughout North America 

  • Engage in frequent communication with SSAB Europe & North American contacts to exchange important customer & product information, including but not limited to: order information, pricing feedback, delivery, status, claims, and market information

  • Resolve customer issues  


Administrative Responsibilities



  • Write & Submit weekly highlight reports

  • Complete & Submit expense reports

  • Conduct all business within the scope of SSAB’s company policies & procedures


 


 


Qualifications: Education and Experience


Required:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Economics or related field


Preferred:



  • MBA in Business Administration/Marketing, Economics


 


Required Experience:



  • Minimum of five years’ experience in trade in import and export of products in U.S., Canada and Mexico

  • Working knowledge of Requests for Information and other documents for U.S., Canada and Mexico

  • Working knowledge of HS tariffs and codes for U.S., Canada and Mexico

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Computer skills including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint and Excel

  • Possess attention to detail and excellent organizational skills

  • Ability to work cross functionally in a matrixed organization

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, professionalism and strong work ethic

  • Regular and reliable attendance


Preferred:



  • 10+ years of trade experience managing compliance to trade laws and regulations

  • In-depth knowledge of the steel industry products, specifically plate and coil

  • In-depth knowledge of steel product HS tariffs and codes


 


Working conditions:


This position operates in an office environment.  The role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and scanners.  This role is partially sedentary.  Some filing and handling of office materials is required.  This requires the use of hands to finger, hold, handle, reach with hands and arms and to lift and/or carry items up to 30 lbs.


This position occasionally operates in the field.  The role requires the ability to travel frequently via automobile and airplane.

Position Type – Work Hours – Travel Requirements



  • Position is full time, exempt

  • Position works day shift, Monday-Friday, additional overtime may be required

  • Expected travel 5-10% of time

  • Onsite office presence required
