POSITION TITLE: Trade Compliance Manager, the Americas
EXEMPTION STATUS: Salaried Exempt

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assist with, oversee, and improve existing trade compliance and customs functions for North American locations, including import and export functions, and broker and forwarder management.
- Where needed, maintain and/or improve and implement robust and sustainable global trade and compliance policies and processes that adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
- Develop and lead effective training for those involved in the import and export trade processes and maintain the related training records.
- Conduct monthly internal monitoring and auditing to ensure trade processes are followed.
- Be the escalation point of contact for import and export compliance matters for the Americas including Anti Dumping – Counter Vailing duty scope and product reviews and technical support with EEI filings.
- Work with trade analyst to oversee brokers and customs documentation. Work with third party logistics companies as needed.
- Assist in compliance with global customs laws and regulations, working with team members globally and with company resources. Projects may include global harmonized tariff schedules, customs valuations, and customs assists.
- Monitor and assist with interpretation of applicable regulations and implement changes to the import/export process to meet new requirements to relay to trade analyst and shipping teams.
- Perform annual and ongoing FTA qualification for Buy America, USMCA, and any other FTA that may be utilized.
- Perform risk assessment and identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability; develop/implement corrective action plans as needed.
- Manage the customs bonds used for imports.
- Manage broker relationships. Update or expand broker SOPs and maintain POAs according to company guidelines.
- Further develop, maintain, and manage trade compliance KPIs.
- Remediate any trade related internal audit issues as needed.
- Collaborate with the Compliance Director on trade and other compliance initiatives and projects.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Operations, International Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-8 years’ experience in U.S. export/import regulations and global trade compliance.
- U.S. Customs Broker’s License desired but not necessary.
- Strong proficiency and knowledge of the HS Classification process.
- Experience with ACE 2.0 import reporting and EEI filing in ACE.
- Expert knowledge of Special Programs including Free Trade Agreements (USMCA).
- Experience navigating complex global trade compliance issues.
- Experience leading direct report in a trade capacity.
- Experience with Global Trade Management (GTM) software desired by not required.
Location
- This position will be responsible for the facility in southern Indiana, as well as some remote responsibility for a connected automotive business in Oregon . The candidate is expected to be on-site for most work hours and days, although some remote work may be possible eventually.
