About the Job


Responsibilities:



  • Develop and maintain local trade compliance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with current rules and regulations.

  • Act as focal point and SME within T.EN T&L team to advise on industry best practices in respect to trade compliance and customs related matters.

  • Align within the T&L organizational structure and help develop the future trade compliance team, it roles & responsibilities and to grow and enhance trade compliance function within the organization.

  • Manage tariff classifications and export control classifications of equipment and materials to ensure proper classification for imports and exports and accurate reporting and compliance.

  • Identify and operationalize value generation opportunities via FTAs, FTZs, duty drawback and other regional trade programs.

  • Raise awareness and educate employees and business partners on classification processes and compliance with import and export requirements.

  • Acts as the primary contact with US Customs and Border Protection and other government agencies both US and foreign on all significant international trade related matters.

  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, brokers, and internal stakeholders involved in import and export transactions.

  • Ensure continuous improvement through audits and assessments to identify potential compliance issues and implement corrective actions.

  • Drive transformational initiatives (people, process, technology) in the areas of import / export classification, valuation, customs compliance and preferential trade, utilizing industry best practices.

  • Identify and implement automated technology tools that support customs reporting requirements and the development of internal customs related databases.


 


Main Accountabilities:



  • Support various project teams and departments on trade compliance and customs related issues (e.g., HTS classifications, rulings, establishment and maintenance of project FTZ’s etc.)

  • Provide duty and tariff estimate costs to project estimating teams on project equipment and materials to be purchased from international locations.

  • Provide man-hours estimation and reporting on trade compliance and customs related functions for FEED through EP/EPC stages of the project cycle. 

  • Manage Customs Activities for a Project in coordination with the assigned T&L team.

  • Issue and manage Customs Powers of Attorney and Broker/Freight Forwarder Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Manage the relationship with appointed customs brokers and forwarding agents to ensure timely and accurate filings on the company’s behalf and that invoices are paid on a timely basis.

  • Manage import and export documentation to ensure that all required documents are present for recordkeeping compliance.

  • Coordinate release of shipment with the customs brokers, carriers, Customs authorities, and other government agencies.

  • Review and approve broker invoices and statements for payment of duties.

  • Manage the organization’s electronic recordkeeping platform to ensure all compliance records are stored and readily accessible for internal assessments or audits.

  • Design future internal customs reporting processes based on industry best practices, organizational footprint, risk and the utilization of technology tools.

  • Issues trade compliance and customs related specifications to support contractual requirements, invitations to bid, and issuance of service orders to freight forwarders and/or customs brokers.

About You


We’d love to hear from you if your profile meets the following essential requirements:



  • Customs Broker license (preferred)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience 

  • Expertise in Customs Regulations, Import / Export Operations, Free Trade Agreements, Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ’s), classification concepts and references (Harmonized Tariff Schedule, ECCN)

  • Experience in project management and working in a cross-functional environment with different stakeholders (e.g., Engineering, Procurement, Finance, IT and Legal)

  • Ability to manage complexity with speed and efficiency, with excellent analytical, decision-making, and project management skills

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and presentation skills in English

  • Strong analytical and research skills

  • Ability to interact with all levels of management, team player

  • Ability to work with people in a culturally diverse environment
