Position Summary:
The Trade Compliance Operations Analyst will report to the Trade Compliance Operations Manager – US & Canada. The Trade Compliance Operations Analyst is responsible for coordinating activities involved in export/import compliance including but not limited to, harmonized tariff classifications, ECCN determination, country of origin determination, ACE reporting, restricted party screening, duty drawback, updating and managing internal controls and procedures. As a critical member of our Trade Compliance team, the Trade Compliance Operations Analyst interfaces with internal and external brokers, vendors, freight forwarders, manufacturing plants, distribution center and other functional areas to ensure the proper coordination and flow of shipments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Works and assists management on trade compliance projects such as duty drawback and tariff mitigation activities
• Run weekly entry filing report & monthly duty and tax report
• Maintain customs entry files according to US Customs recordkeeping guidelines and audit entries and invoices for accuracy
• Collaborate with third party service providers, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and suppliers to resolve day-to-day challenges and roadblocks
• Verify import documentation to ensure accuracy prepared and in compliance with all US and foreign Customs/regulatory requirements
• Classifying products for import and export using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS) General Rules of Interpretation (GR’s), schedule B’s, Export Administration Regulations (EAR), other established regulatory information
• Liaise with and provide support to Electronics & Controls operations, supply chain, logistics and vendors, to ensure alignment with trade compliance policies and procedures.
• Use JDE/Oracle to build and maintain reports that will fulfill the needs of the metrics used by the trade compliance team
• Lead objective setting, measurement, reporting, organizational development, and process improvement in all areas of responsibility
• Ensure continuous improvement and execution of day-to-day compliance activities
• Manage and track Inbond shipment and processes
• Maintain and manage HTS database
• Maintain seal log and inventory
• Participates in continuous improvement process related to import/export compliance program and manages document revisions of internal controls and procedures
• Daily screening and release of new customer setup and customer master data changes
• Develops and conduct trade compliance training
• Other activities or duties assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2-3 years directly related professional work experience (Required)
- Understanding of U.S. and foreign Trade Compliance regulations
- Strong knowledge of transportation industry including truckload, less-than-truckload, air, ocean, and parcel.
- Firm grasp of supply chain, inventory, distribution, business, and management principles and apply terms to every-day situations
- Strong collaboration, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Must be detailed oriented, proactive in anticipating requirements and able to work efficiently with minimal direction in a sometimes-high pressure environment
- Successfully interacts with a dispersed leadership team and others across functions and sites.
- Experience with MS Office Suite required
- Experience with Oracle ERP and/or Oracle Global Logistics Modules, Oracle Transportation Management, CASS is preferred
- Business Intelligence/Data warehouse concepts with knowledge of reporting tools is a plus
