The role, at a glance:

Biamp is looking for an experienced Trade Compliance Specialist to join our Operations team. This person will oversee import and export activities as it relates to trade compliance, ensure compliance with local and international trade regulations, and develop and manage to effective policies and procedures in support of these objectives. Further, this role involves working closely with customs authorities, freight forwarders, internal stakeholders, and external partners to maintain compliance across all supply chain activities, mitigate risks, and minimize costs.

How you'll contribute:

  • Support Biamp Operations with defining/optimizing trade import and export compliance codes (Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Export Control Classification Numbers, Export License Exception, etc.). This task would likely leverage the use of third-party trade compliance services as well as logistics partners. This is for purchased materials (custom most likely) and products.

  • Facilitate and drive both the optimization and improvement as well as establishment of Trade Compliance programs.

  • Review and oversee Biamp’s trade records for all import and export activities, verifying duty rates and ensuring the records support applying for duty drawback programs. Process management and ownership of Biamp Duty Drawback program.

  • Ensure the Biamp’s trade activities comply with applicable local, national, and international laws (e.g., ITAR, EAR, OFAC in the U.S., Lacey act, Restricted Party Screening and other regulations worldwide) by staying up to date on trade regulations and import/export laws in relevant countries. Monitor changes in trade laws, sanctions, tariffs, and embargoes, and adjust company policies accordingly. Leverage 3rd parties (Western, Radius, FedEx) to understand, advise and manage this on behalf of Biamp.

  • When needed, work with 3rd parties (freight forwarders, brokers, suppliers, and Biamp functions) to resolve issues where Trade Compliance is impacting inbound or outbound delivery of goods.

You'll also support by:

  • Working with Biamp Supply Chain and Distribution teams to identify potential compliance risks, including violations of trade laws. Assisting in the development of risk assessment and potential mitigation.

  • Being a Trade Compliance resource for the entire Biamp organization, including, but not limited to, partnering with the product Compliance team, Engineering, Legal, Order Management, and Distribution teams.

  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.

A successful candidate should have:

  • 5+ years of experience in trade compliance, import/export management, or a related role.

  • Strong knowledge and experience in managing to U.S. Customs Regulations (CBP), ITAR, EAR, and Sanctions Programs (OFAC).

  • Experience with HTS/Schedule B classification and country of origin determination.

  • Experience is working with custom agents, for import and export of materials and product.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Willingness and ability to occasionally work outside standard business hours as needed to collaborate with global partners and teams to achieve business objectives.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills in English.

  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, across multiple organizations within Biamp as well as suppliers.

  • Experience of manufacturing and international supply chain is a plus, and highly desirable

Work environment:

  • This is an onsite position based in Tigard, OR, located at Biamp's Cascade Manufacturing facility.

  • Potential domestic and international travel (less than 5%) to support compliance activities.

  • Routine use of standard office equipment, prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
