Description

The Trade Compliance Specialist will support the Compliance team to ensure the company’s compliance with laws and regulations in its crude and products trading business. In this role, you will assist with monitoring both physical and derivative transactions in compliance with CFTC and Exchange Rules. You will assist in developing and monitoring the company’s compliance plans, policies, and procedures. 


Responsibilities:

  

  • Develop and implement company policies, guidelines, and procedures. Review and evaluate current policies and procedures. 
  • Assist with onboarding new counterparties and intermediaries. Respond to queries from counterparties in the Know-Your-Customer process. 
  • Participate in the review of new transactions and analyze the impact on legal compliance.
  • Develop and maintain compliance plans, policies, and procedures and monitor adherence to these policies.
  • Assist with monitoring derivatives and physical trading activity for compliance with federal regulations and exchange rules. 
  • Propose and implement new monitoring and surveillance techniques based on changes to the business activity and any changes or amendments to trade regulations.
  • Ensure current activities are adequately reported and document and test the company’s reporting process.
  • Keep abreast of upcoming, new and revised rules, regulations, and directives applicable to the business and facilitate changes as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required. 
  • 4+ years of experience in risk and compliance in energy commodities.
  • Compliance experience in futures and physical commodities trading
  • Working knowledge of commodity regulations and reporting.
  • Knowledge of terms and conditions used in crude oil purchase and sale agreements.
  • Existing knowledge of and use of trading analytical tools and trade surveillance software.
  • Highly organized, self-starter with the ability to deliver a high level of quality in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
