Summary


 


The purpose of the Transportation & Trade Compliance Manager is to provide safe and cost effective transportation across all modes with focus on air, ocean and motor. Coordinate shipments with carriers, audit freight bills, prepare and negotiate claims, and ensures import & export trade compliance policies are documented and adhered to.


 


As part of Operations staff, the talented candidate will not only provide leadership, guidance, direction and focus to her/his team but will also advise/influence other functions across our client. S/he has to create organizational networks and relationships which ensure world class operational excellence.


 


Responsibilities:


 


Negotiate rates as needed with contract carriers


Provide analysis of current transportation and operations practices to determine process and cost improvement opportunities


Develop, format and publish weekly and monthly Key Performance Indicators related to freight and freight related services and measures


Negotiate freight claims for goods lost or damaged in transit


Audit carrier invoices for accuracy and contract compliance


Identify areas of opportunity to cut cost without jeopardizing service


Create carrier performance report cards for business review meetings to discuss past carrier performance and future expectations


Compile and analyze historical shipping information to monitor trends and help develop bid packages


Update Shipping guides as needed


Classification of new products


Serves as prime contact for import/ export compliance and government inquiries or notifications relating to compliance issues


Stays current on U.S. import/ export regulatory changes and proposed legislation


Prepares and files all required reports as specified by government export and import compliance agencies


 


Qualifications:


 


Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Supply Chain, Engineering/Technical degree, and 5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience


3 or more years of industry experience required


Experience in trade compliance for restricted wireless networking equipment utilizing high levels of encryption


Effective collaboration in cross-functional teams and can drive results with outsource partners


Experience leading people and working effectively across functions and across business cultures (Asia and Europe)


Effective project management, negotiation, contract management and interpersonal communication skills
