Overview

UIC Municipal Services (UICMS) is based in Utqiagvik. Our mission is to help the North Slope Borough achieve their goals “to sustain and improve the quality of life for the North Slope Borough residents by providing a wide range of cost-effective and well-coordinated essential municipal services.”

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Compiles and tracks information and records to prepare purchase orders purchase requisitions.
  • Verifies specifications of purchase requests.
  • Expedites orders.
  • Consults catalogs, internet, and suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.
  • Prepares invitation-of-bid and sends to suppliers.
  • Evaluates bids and selects suppliers.
  • Compiles and records prices, deliveries, and items purchased.
  • Keeps databases current.
  • Coordinates office services.
  • Coordinates collection and preparation of reports.
  • Compiles data.
  • Reviews and answers correspondence.
  • Maintains office inventory.
  • Supports general business meetings.
  • Prepare reports and keeps reports up to date on Purchase Orders and Purchase Requests.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge and Critical Skills/Expertise:

Proficient in MS Products with an emphasis on MS Excel.

 

High School diploma and 2-5 Years of office administrative experience.

Preferred Experience:

 

Authorized Driver Requirement: Employee must have a valid driver’s license and three (3) year clean driving record. Employee must follow all Authorized Driver Policy and Procedures regarding approved vehicle usage.

All employees must pass Non-DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all UIC Non-DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program guidelines and requirements.

If working on a DOT project, employees must pass a DOT pre-employment drug screening and follow all DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing Program requirements.

Candidates must pass a background check in order to fill this position.
