The Opportunity
ChemTreat is looking for the right individual to step into our fast-paced, challenging environment as our Global Trade Compliance Manager. You’ll be working onsite day to day in a high growth, globally focused area and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders (such as Finance, Supply Chain/Procurement, Legal, Gov’t Agencies, Freight Forwarders, & Platform/OPCOs) in promoting and supporting import, export, and trade compliance initiatives and assisting with special projects as needed. This individual will provide a range of trade compliance advice, including the key responsibilities set forth below. This is a dynamic role that requires a responsive, collaborative individual with high agility, professionalism, and the ability to be comfortable in a lean and rapidly changing environment. This role has one direct report.

What you'll do:
- Develop, implement, and maintain customs and export compliance policies, procedures and documentation.
- Support strategy for import programs that minimize duty and reduce importing costs, develop and implement Duty Drawback processes.
- Support strategy for export and sanctions programs that minimize risk and ensure restricted party screening and diligence processes are being followed.
- Leverage trade statistics and data to translate into actionable business recommendations and business plans.
- Assigning proper tariff classifications, valuation methodology, and country of origin determination and marking of imported goods.
- Develop and implement standard work for all required recordkeeping.
- Provide training and communication to various functions.
- Analyze and interpret requirements for import/export compliance as new or revised regulations are published.
- Provide guidance and supporting reports to management as required.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Report metrics and manage KPI’s associated with import and export activity.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and administrative guidelines and provide guidance with respect to compliance laws by using discretion and independent judgement.
- Gathers documentation and information to support negotiated resolution of non-compliance issues.
- Manage the compliance of free trade agreements, like USMCA, to leverage tariff exemptions, while mitigating risk.
- Recognize areas of growth in the team member and develop plans to support team member’s improvement in those areas
- Foster growth and development for team member through exposure and leadership opportunities for projects based on their needs/desires
- Prioritize, distribute, and supervise the workload of the trade support staff.
- Establish and implement SMART performance objectives of direct reports that support, and align with the goals and objectives of ChemTreat Operations
Are you qualified?
- BA degree and a minimum of 7 years in Global Trade Compliance, preference for experience with a multinational firm required
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. trade laws and regulations of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, C-TPAT and other CBP security initiatives required
- In-depth knowledge of HTS classification, import valuations, assists and special trade programs required
- Detail-oriented. Willing and able to manage the standard work of the import compliance function required
- Extensive knowledge of Canada & U.S. trade requirements required
The salary range for this role is $105,000 – 13,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
