Summary of Role:

The Deputy Director Trade Compliance candidate will be a leader of Globalfoundries Global Trade Compliance Program, within the Legal Department. The trade compliance program is an integral part of the company’s operation, and we seek a candidate with excellent leadership, organizational, communication and collaboration skills to partner with the trade compliance team in the U.S., Singapore, and Germany to provide trade compliance and execution support. The role will include the implementation and evaluation of trade compliance strategy, programs, policies, and procedures with a particular focus on export regulations. 

Essential Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead a team that provides export compliance support as required under the EAR and ITAR including:
  • Classification under the Commerce Control List and the Munitions List;
  • Licensing of products and technical data;
  • Foreign national screening and licensing (deemed export);
  • Denied party screening and licensing;
  • Export clearance of company’s goods and technology.
  • Partner with numerous organizations within the Company including Legal, Logistics, Supply Chain, Sales, IT and Engineering to develop and execute defined procedures.
  • Provide ongoing training, development and guidance for internal employees and external vendors and suppliers and maintain, review and update trade compliance manuals.
  • Monitor, review and interpret import and export regulations, laws and requirements including other government agency (OGA) regulations and help revise compliance policies and practices in accordance with changing legal framework and business models.
  • Develop and implement trade compliance audit programs.
  • Provide advice and counsel on trade requirements for major initiatives and special projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the Company’s Global Trade Compliance Program, including automating processes and procedures.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in international trade
  • In depth knowledge of, and extensive experience with, the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
  • Travel - Up to 10%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in SAP and GTS
  • Experience with Focused Assessments, ISF and/or C-TPAT a plus
  • Customs broker license.
  • Experience with encryption, technology transfers and deemed export programs.
  • Experience with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
  • Strong export classification skills.
  • Prior experience with developing and implementing trade compliance programs in large, global companies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present to an audience who may or may not have an understanding of international trade.
  • Action and results oriented, flexible, hardworking and a team player; strong analytical skills, decision making ability and the ability to thrive in a fast paced business with frequent and rapid priority changes.

Expected Salary Range

$133,100.00 - $254,800.00The exact Salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience and location.
