Global Finance Internship (Remote & Hybrid)

Program Information
The DC internship program is designed to give undergraduate students, graduate students, and young professionals the opportunity to serve IJM's Global Center. Interns participate in the ongoing work of protecting the rights of those subject to violent forms of oppression and human rights abuses.
IJM internships offer a unique opportunity for professional development and spiritual growth. The program benefits those who plan to pursue various career paths, including public relations, law, Christian ministry, law enforcement, public policy, business, social work or general non-profit or international work. The program offers interns an opportunity to investigate their individual gifts and develop new skills while working at IJM's corporate headquarters.
For many interns, the DC internship is a strategic step prior to attending graduate school or beginning a career. The positions are open to college and graduate students, recent college graduates, and young professionals in career transition.
Finance interns assist their department with monitoring and support of finances in both Headquarters and international field offices. College students, recent graduates and graduate students with classes in accounting, finance or business are preferred for these positions. Although tasks vary depending on the nature of the work in progress during the internship, interns can expect their tasks to include:
- Processing expense reports, including payment requests, credit card reports and cash advance reconciliations;
- Preparing and recording financial data from expense reports in IJM's accounting system;
- Assisting with information analysis and workflow between various reporting tools and Workday;
- Researching various regulatory and procedural matters for the finance department; and
- Participating in departmental and general IJM administrative support.
Positions Available:
- Financial Planning & Analysis: working with the Financial Policy & Analyst teams on budget projections, reports and systems
- Global Treasury: Global Bank implementation project: Tracking of tasks, smartsheet project plan updates, project reporting and escalations, and coordination of documents.
- Finance Data Intern: The intern will help with data quality projects and data visualization using a BI tool like Tableau and/or MS Power BI. The intern can work on various aspects of M-Files, our cloud-based document management system. There may also be some projects related to IJM's Workday global rollout.
- Global Assurance: Assist Global Assurance team in performing periodic assurance audits/reviews of IJM FO quarterly compliance report reviews, timesheet testing, assist GA with strategy planning and tool development.
- International Finance Intern: Support Global Finance and Accounting to review overseas financial operations for consolidation; create and upload journals into the accounting system; prepare variance analysis reports for grants; prepare schedules to reconcile balance sheet account balances; pull supporting documents for samples during external audits.
IJM's Internship opportunities vary every session and look different in every office. Interns generally will assist a specific person or team. The positions involve the described tasks and responsibilities as well as other relevant duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree must be completed or in progress for this internship, and applicants need to have completed at least two years of undergraduate study.
