Summary
The Senior Manager, Global Trade Risk & Standards will be an essential member of Illumina’s Global Trade Compliance leadership team, responsible for business engagement on all trade-related risk, standards, and compliance matters. This includes management of our trade risk and regulatory sensing programs as well as corporate and functional policies, This leader will engage internal and external stakeholders to support management and execution of these programs. Strong candidates will have deep subject matter expertise of import and export global trade compliance requirements. This leader will also have demonstrated experience leading risk management and regulatory sensing programs in support of trade compliance.

Main Responsibilities
- Operate under the general direction and supervision of the Director, Global Trade Compliance.
- Lead risk management and regulatory sensing programs designed to maintain compliance as our business grows.
- Lead cross functional engagement to identify, document and socialize trade policies and standards requirements.
- Maintain required governance of standards and policies supporting core import and export compliance areas
- Develop and deliver company-wide training to educate teams on trade compliance in support of business goals.
- Collaborate with GTC team and cross-functional stakeholders to drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase compliance with global trade regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global trade policies, regulations, national and international guidelines, and industry standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree (MA, JD, MBA) preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in international trade, deep understanding of trade compliance, risk management
- Subject matter expertise in global trade compliance including country of origin determination, valuation, and classification.
- Experience implementing policies and processes to support compliance with import and export trade regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Experience in life science or medical device industry considered a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, judgement, creativity, flexibility.
- Experience engaging cross-functionally and collaboratively to develop and implement compliance programs.
- Detail oriented and highly organized; ability to multi-task several tasks/projects at once.
- Ability to adapt to rapid change, work with a sense of urgency, and manage time effectively.
The estimated base salary range for the Senior Manager, Global Trade Risk Management & Standards role based in the United States of America is: $136,100 - $204,100. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable salary range may be updated accordingly. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications, location where the role is to be performed, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
