The position is responsible for supporting Gates Corporation's trade compliance strategy. The Customs and Trade Compliance Analyst supports Purchasing, Export, Import, Product Development, Legal, Finance and other functions with HTS and ECCN classifications, country of origin, trade programs and requirements for importing into and exporting out of the Americas. This role works internally and externally with Customers, Suppliers, Global Logistics Provider, Parcel Carriers, and Customs brokers.

Key responsibilities (to name a few):

  • Working with suppliers to solicit vendor country of origin certification, reviewing products for FTA eligibility and providing customers with FTA and Declaration of origin certification in a timely and compliant manner.
  • Evaluating and classifying new and existing manufactured products, machinery, raw materials and resale products.
  • Conducting audits and ensuring business is adhering to the proper execution of customs' requirements.
  • Reconciling issues as they are identified and implement corrective action as required.
  • Preparing Export proforma commercial invoices to various global destinations.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of ERP databases to ensure accurate item attributes related to country of origin and HTS/ECCN classifications.
  • Updating monthly KPI's on duty spend for each Gates and its affiliates US importer.


  • BS/BA or equivalent
  • Strong analytical abilities in identifying issues or finding opportunities related to duty optimization
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Microsoft Office skills required with strong Excel skills preferred
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines while ensuring compliance
  • Time management/prioritization and follow up skills
  • Professional and diplomatic manner
  • Ability to identify and solve complex problems
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.


  • Full-Time: $51,700.00 - $66,500.00 annually
  • Medical, Dental, Vision insurance and other voluntary benefit options: benefits begin on the first day of the month immediately following your date of hire
  • Eligible for 3 weeks of paid vacation + 11 holidays (9 scheduled & 2 floating) + 8 sick days. All vacation days are accrued
