Position Summary: To coordinate the admittance, Customs entry, export and inventory control of international shipments at Apex Foreign Trade Zones. Prepare Customs admittance, entry & international trade documentation for clients import shipments. Ensure compliance with Customs and Border Protection and Department of Commerce requirements on behalf of client and Apex. Coordinate all activities necessary for effective, compliant FTZ transactions with contracted cartage agents, airlines, and Apex CFS facilities. Responsible for dispatching cartage agents, interfacing with US Customs and coordinate Customs entry clearance activities.


  • Process shipments for day-to-day operations of Apex?s FTZ sites in accordance with the FTZ procedures manual.
  • Prepare and submit all required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual documentation and forms to Customs and Border Patrol on a timely basis.
  • Work closely with Apex Operations staff and Apex CHB to achieve optimal flow of merchandise and timely submission of reports.
  • Maintain proper record keeping required for operations of Apex FTZ sites.
  • Maintain the FTZ inventory control and record keeping system.
  • Validate FTZ data against clients import documentation as needed to ensure accuracy of integration and information.
  • Routinely updates and reports to direct management concerning activities related to the FTZ.
  • Assist in troubleshooting inventory discrepancies, and report as necessary
  • Prepare & transmit required FTZ entry forms (CBP3461, CBP7501 and CBP7512)
  • Research and analyze any discrepancies discovered during daily operations
  • Work with Customs during on site audits and provide reports and information as needed
  • Manage recordkeeping of import and Customs documents.
  • Assist in preparation and submission of annual reports to U.S. Customs and the FTZ Board
  • Submit reports of quarterly Harbor Maintenance fees to The Department of Commerce and to customers
  • All other duties as assigned

Work Expeirience and Education

  • Two years college / equivalent preferred.
  • One (1) to Two (2) years Customs Brokerage experience, Or, Two (2) to Three
  • (3) years FTZ administrative experience.
  • Broad general knowledge of Federal regulations regarding Import requirements.
  • Must be able to type minimum of 35 WPM.
  • Knowledge of Customs entry and international transportation of goods.
  • Ability to multi-task, customer service skills, attention to detail, time management, effective analytical, human relations, professional written and oral communications skills and attendance punctuality required. Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook) required.
  • Experience with FTZ software preferred
  • Must work well independently and in a team environment
  • US Customs Broker License preferred
