The Job Responsibilities


Ensure efficient and cost effective Importation of goods in compliance with all applicable Customs and OGA rules and regulations. Provide work direction to others in the department for import and customs matters and support the import of products, services, transfer of technical data as well as supply chain activities. Coordinate with external parties such as brokers, forwarders and logistic suppliers and internal functions to maintain and implement standardized integrated international trade procedures, to maximize corporate efficiency and minimize regulatory risk and to execute import and customs best practices.

  • Manage, implement and maintain an import and customs compliance program to assure company compliance with agency directives and procedures and with applicable laws and regulations while aligning with the global import and export group.Support logistics functions and interface with internal and external partners (including regulatory bodies) to facilitate movement of goods and minimize impact to business and operations.Collaborate with operational and divisional personnel and other functions on various initiatives and programs to address and manage import and customs compliance topics and advise as needed on agreements and arrangements so as to ensure duty obligations are fulfilled and assure the expeditious entry and distribution of products and information
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and process flows via knowledge regarding various topics including valuation, designation of customs bonded facilities, use of foreign trade zones, and provisional duty free treatment under bond.Manage Post Entry Audit Program of imported items and resolve errors as needed to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations. Work to ensure the team has understanding and commitment to program.
  • Manage and implement internal assessments and auditing program to ensure import and customs compliance.
  • Participate with logistics sourcing teams in the development of shipping import/export requirements and manage preparation of prior disclosures, voluntary tenders, protests, post entry adjustments and information requests from governmental bodies.
  • Manager operational relationship with US Customs Brokers to include daily work, work load, broker SOP’s and point of contact.
  • Performs other duties as needed and assigned.


Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in international business, business administration or related field (preferred) or the equivalent in education, training and experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience related to trade compliance, most recent capacity as Trade Compliance Supervisor or Manager
  • Strong sourcing and purchasing related experience preferred
  • Certified Customs Specialist preferred

FDA/Medical device experience preferred.

  • Experience with freight forwarding processes preferred.
  • US Brokers License a plus but not required.
  • Working knowledge of SAP Enterprise Business System.
  • Strong working knowledge of US Harmonized Tariff
  • Strong working knowledge of US Customs Regulations
  • High degree of knowledge laws and regulations governing import and customs including the HTS.
  • Comprehensive understanding of international freight forwarding processes and general supply chain operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written, verbal and presentation) with the ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout the organization.
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills at all levels.
