Position Summary

The Customs Broker for eShipping must exercise responsible care filing U.S. Customs entries, ISFs, and classification functions for U.S. imported freight. This individual ensures compliance with U.S. CBP and any other government agencies while providing exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintain a high level of compliance per company goals and policies
  • Deliver continuous education for Customs brokerage team
  • Assist CHB Manager in designing, maintaining, and enforcing standard procedures
  • Lead CBP audits, broker visits, PGA audits, and entry audits
  • Troubleshoot and design solutions for challenging customer scenarios
  • Handle post entry/summary corrections, protests, liquidated damages claim, and support prior disclosures
  • Provide guidance to brokerage employees on how to respond to customer and government inquiries
  • Responsible for auditing, and maintaining satisfactory compliance scores, as a result of the following
  • Arrange Air Freight, LCL and FCL deliveries
  • Prepare and post accurate, timely customer invoices
  • Support filing and compliance of U.S. Export EEIs
  • Other administrative duties as assigned

Specific Department Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge and of applicable U.S. Customs laws and regulations
  • Maintain Certified Customs Specialist status with the NCBFAA
  • Actively participate in seminars ie. NCBFAA

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Must have passed the customs brokerage license exam
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Industry experience preferred

  • Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is inside a central heat and air-conditioned office building. The noise level in the work environment is minimal.
