Position Summary:

The Trade Compliance Lead will be the first point of contact for all trade, export, import and related trade compliance reviews, concerns and inquiries. As the lead for Products and Food Technology, this individual will be responsible for working with the ATS Corporate compliance lead to create processes within the segment to ensure compliance with all applicable Company Policy, to include the Export Compliance Policy, the Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy, Third Party Screening and Due Diligence Policy, as well as other applicable governmental rules, regulations and sanctions.


The Primary responsibilities of the TCL will include:

  • Developing, documenting, and maintaining the trade compliance processes for the segment (Marco, NCC, SuperTrak).
  • Working closely with each division liaison to identify local risks and ensure all 3rd parties are adequately screened.
  • Determining the classification of items[1].
  • Evaluating criteria and applying for export licenses.
  • Reviewing and implementing all terms, provisos and conditions of any export licenses issued by applicable government authorities.
  • Screening Restricted Parties Lists[2] and for prohibited or otherwise restricted parties pursuant to applicable law and ATS policy, evaluating and documenting results, and making appropriate decisions about the results.
  • Determining reporting requirements and submitting appropriate reports.
  • Maintaining company records relating to export transactions in accordance with export regulatory requirements to include, but not limited to, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) §122.5 and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) §762.2.


Other duties will include:

  • Investigating any export compliance issues and determining, in association with relevant ATS Compliance and Management personnel, whether or not a voluntary self-disclosure is required.
  • Developing and submitting voluntary self-disclosures in association with relevant ATS Compliance and Management personnel.
  • Serving as the primary contact for employees with questions about the regulations of trade compliance, its policies and procedures.
  • Periodically reviewing changes to the regulations, updating this Program as may be required from time to time, and communicating changes to employees.
  • Serving as the first point of contact for all questions or inquiries from customers or governmental agencies as they relate to export compliance.


Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years relevant experience


This position can be performed in Cambridge, Ontario, Charlotte, North Carolina, and other ATS locations on Eastern or Central time zone. There is also the possibility that this role can be performed remote with travel.

The term “item” does not refer to the physical product alone, but can also be used to describe data or technologies associated with that product. Some examples of items include: materials, finished products, sub-assemblies, components, parts, blueprints, design plans, specifications, software code, encryption technology, composite technology, test data, and information.

[2] This term refers collectively to all of Canada, EU, UK, and U.S. government prohibited end-users lists, including (without limitation): the Denied Parties List, Entities List, Unverified list, Specially Designated National (SDN) and the Debarred Parties list.
