Position Objective:

The objective of the Import/Export Coordinator position is to ensure timely, efficient, and compliant import and export coordination in accordance with the international Supply Chain requirements as part of American Air Filter's global operations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Plans, organizes, and executes Import / Export activities for finished products, sub-assemblies, and raw materials with key stakeholders including 3PLs, Carriers, Forwarders, and/or Brokerage & Customs services (40%)
  • Tracks and traces shipments from origin to destination by updated key milestone dates and estimated times of arrival (ETA) – to meet customer and/or Sales, Inventory, Operations Planning (SIOP) schedules. (20%)
  • Serves as liaison to the global AAF plants, forwarders and carriers for performance metrics, improvements and cost control. Maintains metrics associated with key drivers for identified channels of distribution. (10%)
  • Promotes lean methodologies as it relates to international shipment management and operational practices. Works with management team to provide recommendations and optimize supply chain processes regionally and globally (10%)
  • Understands AAF international warehouse, logistics and overall supply chain network as it relates to business requirements and initiatives. (10%)
  • Continuous training as required by law with regulatory compliance agencies such as Department of Transportation (DOT), International Air & Transportation Association (IATA), etc. (10%)

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, ideally in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration; in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, 5 years’ experience in Import / Export field;
  • Two to five years' work experience in international logistics, shipping, freight forwarding or customs brokerage;
  • Strong ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task, prioritize, solve problems and make recommendations;
  • Demonstrated import/export compliance coordination in a similar industry;
  • Knowledge of Foreign Trade Regulations and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Regulations;
  • Knowledge of INCOTERMS;
  • Familiarization with Department of Transportation, International Air Transport Association, and HAZMAT requirements preferred
  • Fluency in English & Spanish preferred.
