Summary

This role will support commercial efforts for the LDC Grains & Oilseeds Ingredients Group. This individual will market LDC products, determine pricing, and maintain a book of suppliers and customers. Successful candidates will negotiate trades, build relationships with trading partners, and seek opportunities to generate margin and support business growth. This position can be remote or work in our Wilton, CT headquarters.

Main Responsibilities

Manage key customer accounts in LDC Ingredients team and relationships with 3rd party suppliers


Bring in new customers and trading partners, and lead product approvals

Conduct trades and execute contracts


Balance plant production and/or purchases with product sales book to maintain comfortable inventory levels


Understand market trends, pricing, risk management, and commercial landscape for numerous products


Foster discussion with the global ingredients team to continually look to take a “world-view” on products


Gain and maintain in-depth understanding of the markets for LDC products relative to competition, price, logistics capabilities, and quality


ADDTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Report on sales activity and contribute to PNL discussions


Become knowledgeable of LDC products and customer purchasing specifications


Follow up with customers on a regular cadence to ensure their needs are met in a timely manner


Liaise with logistics and back-office team members to ensure smooth fulfillment of customer contracts


Develop a good working relationship with the production plants, warehouse, logistics, quality, credit, legal, and back-office teams and drive information flow between groups as needed for business success


Create presentations for customers or for internal management as needed

Maintain customer knowledge in CRM


Contribute to team discussions with trading ideas and risk management, inside & outside the ingredients group

Experiences

5-8 years commercial experience in food ingredients, commodities, or natural fats/oils


1-2 years in a direct sales role or product management role


Current commercial food ingredient relationships, preferably in North America


Previous experience managing commodity arbitrage opportunities


Understanding commodities futures trading, execution and associated contract management


PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

Glycerin, lecithin, canola oil, or soybean oil sales experience


Food Safety Knowledge


Experience with futures hedging in commodities


International trade experience


Familiarity with rail, bulk truck, and dry van shipments


Familiarity with packaging food products and warehouse storage


Marketing and sales presentation experience

Ability to work as part of a global team


Advanced negotiation skills


High mathematic aptitude


Strong written and oral communication skills


Understanding of commonly used trade terms


Travel up to 15%


Risk management and risk mitigation strategies
