JOB SUMMARY:

The Trade Compliance Import and Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) Specialist will support import operations; executing both high level and hands-on duties to ensure swift and compliant movement of goods. This position is also responsible for assisting the FTZ Operator and the Trade Compliance team’s efforts to ensure Polaris's processes, internal controls, and reporting are compliant with US Customs laws and regulations. All such duties must be compliant with U.S., Canada and other customs requirements for other countries, as well as with Polaris’s Global Trade Policy.

The individual will perform complex and confidential administrative duties to ensure accurate reporting to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reporting and any other agencies affected by FTZ and general Import operations, while adhering to all required standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

Trade Compliance Specialist

  • Collaborate with Logistics personnel for addressing import issues and challenges
  • Serve as escalation point for distressed import shipments into US, CA and FTZ locations. Follow up each shipment with root cause analysis and establish improvement plans.
  • Support ad hoc shipment requests including hand carry, carnets, special events, etc.
  • Oversee post-entry compliance procedures (track and ensure timely execution of self-corrections, CF28, CF29, etc.)
  • Liaise with Product Compliance on data requirements for Partner Government Agencies.
  • Ongoing data collection / verification to ensure master entry detail database is complete and accurate.
  • Support the creation, maintenance, and review of Standard Operating Procedures for external service providers (setting clear expectations) and internal activities (ensuring streamlined repeatable processes)
  • Collect necessary documentation for daily import processing
  • Create and generate E214 admissions and CF7501-06 entries and support file transfers - CF7512 with CBP
  • Manage inventory through FTZ Software; receive shipments, process adjustments, ship orders, and maintain software tables with any new vendor, part, HTS information, etc.
  • Manipulate and report consumption of components used in manufacturing
  • Assure inventory accuracy between FTZ Inventory Control and Recordkeeping System (ICRS) and Polaris Warehouse Management System (WMS)
  • Stay abreast of any CBP regulations and updates pertaining to FTZ Operations/FTZ parts
  • Validate FTZ data against actual documentation as needed to ensure accuracy of integration and information
  • Adhere to all import and FTZ record-keeping requirements
  • Assist with auditing and amendments
  • Act as the local FTZ site's primary on-site point of contact for Osceola, WI and St. Paul sites
  • Assist with maintaining, implementing, and enforcing the required procedures to ensure compliance by all relevant parties to all required import and FTZ operational practices and protocols
  • Provide additional support to ad hoc projects within Trade Compliance team, as needed

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

  • B.A. or B.S. in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field, or 2 years of relevant work experience in lieu of degree
  • Minimum 1-3 years' work experience in supply chain, manufacturing, international logistics and inventory management
  • Experience in Foreign Trade Zone, US CBP regulations and compliance is a plus

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  • Flexible, adaptable, collaborative in a fast-changing environment
  • Strong analytical and good decision-making skills
  • Curious, always willing to learn and ability to understand and apply complex trade, logistics and supply chain concepts
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks, follows through on completion of tasks/projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to effectively communicate complex issues pertaining to FTZ to a non-expert audience, internally and externally
  • MS Office proficiency, advanced Excel skills
  • Must be able to travel to corporate HQ and both FTZ facilities, Osceola and St. Paul

Preferred Qualifications:

  • US Customs Broker License
