Are you a Data Engineer, Data Analyst or Data Management professional passionate about Data Privacy and have a keen interest in gaining experience to break into a Data Privacy by Design career?

Sila is seeking a Data Privacy Steward who will be involved in ensuring privacy is a part of the design process, versus being an afterthought. You’ll work as an intermediary between product teams and a Fortune 500 Privacy and Global Trade Controls office to understand the privacy implications for digital data being collected, how the policies relate to the products being developed, and the gaps that must be overcome to be compliant.

While this position can be done remotely, the work is based out of our Seattle office and hours will mirror west coast business hours.

About you:

  • Strong background in data, including data for digital products and data transmitted digitally; ideally 5+ years of data experience
  • Curious and passionate about Data Privacy
  • Strong communication (verbal and written), interpersonal skills and organizational skills; Not afraid to have uncomfortable conversations
  • Self-motivated to find answers and recommend solutions with little direction
  • Comfortable communicating complex issues or technical privacy standards digestible by a wide range of audiences including engineering and product teams
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills and can deliver high-quality results with minimal instruction and a short turnaround time
  • Exceptional judgment, decisiveness, and ability to move quickly
  • Able to manage time and multiple priorities with a variety of stakeholders
  • Have a desire to dive deep into detail, problem solve, and execute
  • Possess an understanding of technical privacy issues and experience with the software development lifecycle

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Experience or familiarity with GDPR, and ePrivacy or other regulations
  • Experience working closely with Product teams on privacy design throughout the product lifecycle
  • Translate Privacy and Trade Control guidelines into actionable compliance steps for the product teams
  • Assess product team data to relay key Privacy or Trade Control triggers to ensure data is accurately categorized and controlled
  • Make Assessments/Evaluations/Recommendations around privacy gaps at the Product Team level as deciphered from interactions with Privacy Office and Trade Control focals
  • Work in conjunction with the product teams to understand what they are doing, what type of data they are trying to access and policies/gaps
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent or equivalent practical experience
  • CIPP or CIPM certifications or CDMP with privacy elections a bonus
