The Import Compliance Administrator is responsible for monitoring import documentations, process, and ensuring compliance with US government laws and regulations. The Administrator will play a key role in assisting the FTZ Import Compliance Manager with regards to imports and trade compliance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Successful completion of Mouser Import Compliance Administrator Training.
  • Maintain a good understanding of complex import and FTZ processes.
  • Monitor and implement the import processes to meet Mouser Electronics objectives and requirements.
  • Assist India Trade Compliance Team on collecting product information from suppliers.
  • Verify product information to ensure proper classifications are assigned.
  • Assist the FTZ Import Compliance Manager in the establishment of U.S. Harmonized Tariff Numbers for Mouser products to ensure proper classification and compliance.
  • Set up import files and follow through from beginning to end.
  • Monitor and validate import declarations to ensure appropriate classification, valuation and payments are made within the laws that apply.
  • Prepare and monitor status of any protests and post entry adjustments filed with Customs.
  • Monitor any other Customs transactions not mentioned above but are part of Mouser Electronics import activities.
  • Serve as the liaison between Mouser Electronics, Mouser’s customs broker, and any third-party service providers.
  • Perform deep dives on imports and returns, using knowledge of systems and processes to identify gaps in the Import Compliance program.
  • Work with Asset Management, distribution center and other internal departments to ensure import transactions are handled correctly and efficiently.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external individuals and groups. Able to communicate with people at all levels.
  • Work independently and remain flexible with the ability to prioritize workloads.
  • Demonstrate effective time management and planning/organizing skills.
  • Take initiative to expand knowledge for position utilizing all available resources.
  • Maintain a resilient attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain regular attendance at work.

SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data, regulations, and legal documents.

  • Ability to type data and use a computer for long periods of time.
  • Proficient in using personal computer, internet e-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook, and other software.
  • Self-motivated and results orientated with a focused and pragmatic approach.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Able to work well under pressure of deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and phone etiquette.
  • Understanding of Supply Chain Logistics.
  • Knowledge/experience of U.S. Customs Regulations and import formalities.

JOB LEVELS

Import Compliance Administrator I

  • Associate Degree required with Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • 1+ years import experience preferred.


Import Compliance Administrator II

  • Provide support for Import Compliance Administrator I with their inquiries/clarifications.
  • Productivity requirement – Minimum of completing all broker daily inquiries related to consumption filings and 8 consumption entry audits, or complete handling of all FTZ related activities and 8 consumption entry audits.
  • Have a good understanding of Mouser Import Compliance processes and must be proficient on working different import shipments.
  • Analyze, investigate, and troubleshoot issues related to import declarations.
  • Interact with customs broker and third-party service providers on daily inquiries.
  • Support new joiners or existing team members to improve their performance.
  • Run reports and gather shipment data to facilitate reporting and duty savings programs.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Import Compliance with mastery of Import Compliance Administrator Level I position experience required.
  • For internal candidates, experience can be a combination of internal and external experience.


Import Compliance Administrator III

  • Provide support for Import Compliance Administrator I and II with their inquiries/clarifications.
  • Productivity requirement – support broker daily inquiries related to consumption filings, perform consumption entry audit as needed, and handling of FTZ related activities.
  • Analyze, investigate, and troubleshoot FTZ related issues and inquiries.
  • Analyze, investigate, and troubleshoot duty savings programs related issues and inquiries.
  • Communicate with Trade Compliance Team in India on process related matters.
  • Participate in and suggest process and standard improvements to build the skills and practice of Import Compliance Administrator.
  • Conduct process training and helps in cascading process related updates to staff.
  • Assist in preparing procedures and weekly/monthly reports.
  • Backup of Senior Import Compliance Administrator.


Requirements

  • 4+ years Import Compliance with mastery of Import Compliance Administrator Level II position experience required.
  • For internal candidates:

o Experience can be a combination of internal and external experience.

o Minimum Highly Effective performance in current role.


Senior Import Compliance Administrator

  • Provide support to Import Compliance Administrator I, II and III.
  • Productivity requirement – support the completing of all brokers daily inquiries related to consumption filings, perform consumption entry audit as needed, and handling of all FTZ related activities.
  • Assist Import Compliance Administrator on questions about Import Compliance and proactively inquire Import Compliance Administrator regarding pending tasks/inquiries from service providers.
  • Perform detail review of specific tasks completed by Import Compliance Administrator and consistently provide accurate information and answers for ongoing growth and development.
  • Assist Import Compliance Administrator in researching errors and monitor workflow as backup support.
  • Provide afterhours oversight on FTZ outbound in-bond closing and filing when needed.
  • Perform training sessions during team meetings.
  • Team subject matter expert.

Requirements

  • 6+ years Import Compliance with mastery of Import Compliance Administrator Level III position experience required.
  • Internal candidates:

o Experience can be a combination of internal and external experience.

o Minimum Highly Effective performance in current role.
